The Experience
Cook and gather in the lofty, rustic kitchen. Enjoy lunch on one of the terraces. This Gersoise farmhouse has been immaculately remodelled, and everything shines.
Le Pélot is a wellness retreat in a stunning setting with a pool. Out of season the house is yours, and the owners move into the barn. You can book wellbeing courses and Kirstie and David offer breakfasts, picnics and dinners on request, as well as many thoughtful extras.
Behind the house is their vineyard. Over the hill is the Domaine de Pellehaut – try the wines. The nearest village is medieval Montréal: a few shops, a boulangerie, an excellent pizzeria. For a home dinner, fire up the barbecue by the splendid outdoor kitchen. For a grand one out, book a table at Les Cordeliers in Condom. This marvellous old town, the capital of Armagnac, is a 20-minute drive.

Location
The neighbourhood
Surrounded by the lovely rolling countryside of the Gers (once Gascony), Le Pélot lies off a country lane in tranquil grounds, with a pool, a vineyard, and gardens. Picturesque Montréal (3.5km) has simple shops, two small restaurants and a good bar; in summer, its square comes alive with walkers on the Santiago trail; there’s a cycling route that passes through here and six other bastide towns (up to four hours’ leisurely cycling to do the whole loop of 43.6km). Condom (18km) and Nérac (30km) are beautiful market towns flanking the river Baise.
Local points of interest from Kirstie Kelly-Batt
- Stepping outside – whether warm or cold, can have an immediate and cathartic effect on your well-being. Meander around the gardens or walk through the copse and take a moment to draw your attention to a seedling, or the beautiful golden Oriels.
- Enjoy the swing in the Cedar Tree When did you last have the time or inclination to simply swing – enjoying the breeze. Gazing up at the majestic branches of our beautiful cedar tree. Or softly sway in the company of a good book or simply your thoughts.
- Local Markets - Every day you can find a local market and sample the fantastic fresh local produce. From the cheeses of the Pyrenees to locally grown organic fruit and vegetables you can really taste the difference.
- Nerac - Our very favourite place is the Saturday morning market at the historical town of Nerac. A gentle 20-minute journey from Le Pelot, you’ll find the perfect combination of location crafts, French fashion and amazing food produce.
- Food and Wine Immerse yourself in the local wines and Armagnacs by visiting the vineyards and tasting for yourself. Closest to Le Pelot is the beautiful chateaux of Pellehaut, a gentle walk through the vineyard and along a leafy lane for a tasting session
- Local restaurants are a-plenty, with Gers food delivering a punch. If you’d prefer a more refined menu, we LOVE Le Cordelier Restaurant in Condom. With beautiful sorbets, subtle flavours and always something beyond the typical.

Introducing
Kirstie Kelly-Batt
Owners Kirstie and David, a warm and enthusiastic couple, live in the barn with two friendly spaniels. Both have worked in the hospitality business and Kirstie is a trained cook. Now they specialise in wellbeing courses for companies and groups. During your stay they will be available for cooking, cleaning, airport pick-up and general ferrying around - just ask!
I can honestly say this is the most upmarket place I've seen. It's very much 'of the moment'. It provides a very luxurious holiday to people who want a home from home of this calibre, and the offers of services that go with it from Kirstie and David.
