The Experience
Your charming, artistic hosts spent years resuscitating the elegant 200-year-old Gascon house, doing it all themselves, with love and taste. Gorgeous floors and fireplaces have been preserved, subtle personal touches added and the result is utterly relaxing. Antony is a keen vegetarian cook, a sculptor and a musician; Camilla went from theatre design to interior design. But it’s more than personality. Bedrooms have big new beds, armchairs, paintings and new walk-in showers, communal rooms have a myriad of beautiful things. Outside are quiet places, a pool and boules, croquet, badminton and ping-pong, and lovely Gascony to explore.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Camilla Bates & Antony Holloway
- We are surrounded by Armagnac producers and vineyards. Eauze, the capital of the Bas Armagnac is 7kms away. It has an outstanding weekly market every Thursday brimming with delicious local fare and a selection of restaurants and bars .
- There are beautiful medieval villages, notably the stunning Labastide d'armagnac, Fources , which has a spring plant market and the tiny fortified village of Larresingle. Vic Fezensac has a Tempo Latino festival, Marciac a world famous jazz festival.
- Finely preserved Roman mosaics at Seviac and Montreal du Gers testify the former importance of the region in Roman Times. There is also an excellent museum in Eauze displaying an outstanding treasure haul of Roman coins and jewellry.
- The Simonov Collection at L'abbaye de Flaran is a gem of culture and beauty including paintings by Braques, Cezanne and Monet. The Gothic cloister is perfectly preserved. You can climb the tower of the church in nearby Valence sur Baise and see for miles
- From Notre Dame des Cyclistes, a chapel restored by an enthusiastic cycling priest with an impressive display of historic cycling jerseys you can walk to Labastide d'armagnac for a meal or 'degustation' of floc , armagnac , local wines and fois gras.
- Golf de Guinlet, an 18 hole course 5 mins drive. At lac de l'uby you can take a pedalo or paddle board for a waterborne adventure. There are many local walks, mapped and signed and from the garden you can often see deer, wild boar, buzzards and hoopoes.

On arrival at Lexis after a somewhat tiring journey, with our two young children, we were treated like long lost friends by Anthony and Camilla who promptly invited us to sit with them for a beer and some snacks...now what more could we need...oh yes a dip in their beautiful pool. Lexis is a magical place and we felt instantly at home. Each room is beautifully decorated, very personal and full of interest. Really comfy beds, fresh flowers and the next morning the most delicious breakfast with homemade jams and fresh fruits and pastries. And a doubIe bass lesson! Only wish we had stayed longer.
