La Vayssade

Lalbenque, Lot
Bed & Breakfast

Foodie heaven here, with room for children too. A pretty garden, dreamy bedrooms and owners who adore shared meals at a big table

6 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 - 4

Sociable foodies will love it here: Hélène and Emmanuel shop in the market every day and enjoy an ever-changing menu with their guests at a huge table, outside on the terrace on fine evenings. You’ll sleep well in large bedrooms (some upstairs, some down) with old beams, exposed stone, dreamy beds and compact bathrooms. A large living room has floor to ceiling arched windows at one end, wonky beams, paintings by Hélène’s mother and a comfy sofa area. This is truffle country so enjoy the Tuesday afternoon market in winter – or stay put and wander at will through the pretty garden, have a float in the pool or the hot tub with views.

We had a very comfortable nights stay at La Vayssade and enjoyed the pool very much after a long drive in a heatwave! Our room was spacious and comfortable and the barn it is situated in is quite spectacular. We did not eat dinner at La Vayssade unfortunately, but ate in a local restaurant that was recommended by Helene, Couteaux and Fourchettes and it was very good and reasonable priced and was in walking distance of La Vayssade. We would have liked to have had a longer stay, but this time it was not possible due to our schedule.

We had a wonderful stay at La Vassayde in the beautiful Lot region of France. Wonderful hosts, wonderful meals and even better conversation. Emmanuel's tips on places to visit were the best. Dinners and breakfasts really good., and it was great to come back from a day's sightseeing and not have to go out again to find somewhere to eat. Highly recommended. Peter & Kerrie.

The setting is beautiful, with renovated farm buildings surrounded by fruit trees and rolling countryside-we could try the sweet cherries straight from the trees during our visit. Four generations of family live here, and the result is a warm welcome and family-style meals together-the dinners, all made with local ingredients, were truly excellent. Host Emmanuelle is passionate about food and you can tell-we'll be back to try his truffle menu. The location itself is great, a short drive from great spots like Saint Cirq Lapopie. But walking round the small villages surrounding Lalbenque is idyllic

Beatiful and comfortable rooms, great food, cooked with natural and local produce. We loved reading in the garden, near the pool. A wonderful place to relax and to get to know the Lot region.

Local points of interest from Emmanuel & Hélène Baysse

  • Throughout the year we invite you to discover the very special landscape of the Lot and Causses du Quercy. Enjoy the typical architecture of the region - ancient white stone houses, small villages and castles.
  • Our guests can enjoy the specialties of the region at our 'table d'hôtes', we always use fresh produce: foie gras, confit and duck breast, black truffles, lamb and melon 'du Quercy', saffron ...
  • La Vayssade can be the departure point to explore prestigious sites such as Cahors, Rocamadour, the caves of Padirac and Pech Merle, St Cirq Lapopie (elected 'village préféré des français' in 2012), Figeac.
  • We also offer you a trip to the capital of the black diamond : Lalbenque with its famous truffle market during our 'Truffles Week-ends' (from Dec. to Feb.)
  • You can also visit the Cahors's black wine vineyards in the Lot Valley.
