The Experience

A charming 300-year-old property with lovely owners who run a restaurant on site – popular with locals so you’re in for a treat. And you can let your inner artist escape by signing up to a pottery painting course – you may just surprise yourself. You’ll find the open-plan apartment delightful – all wooden beams and stone arches with a simple feel. It’s clean and modern with neutral colours and the odd antique; the well-designed kitchen comes with a scrubbed wooden table and fresh flowers. Sleep peacefully: bedrooms have thick floor boards, exposed pale stone walls, modern art, scatter rugs and pretty windows overlooking miles of regimental vines. The bathroom won’t disappoint, with its ornate gilt-framed mirror, slate floor, walk-in all-glass shower and free-standing bath, lovely soaps and fragrances, separate loo. You have two terraces: one for hiding from the midday sun, another for watching the sun go down over all that greenery, and there’s a garden full of fun for children – swing, slide, pool trampoline. There’s a wood-burner for chilly nights and the glorious Lot at your feet.

We had a relaxing week at Le Caillau, Chas and Caroline are great hosts. We all received some treats on arrival, my girls items kept them busy when we visited the local Château’s for wine tasting. The Gite is spacious, clean and comfortable, especially downstairs, upstairs could do with air con for summer. It’s been beautifully decorated, kitchen well stocked should you wish to eat in. On site is a small private pool, swings, trampoline, goats etc which my girls loved. The pottery painting cafe is great fun. Restaurant and courtyard are lovely and the scenery outstanding, a slice of heaven.

Suzanne, Kent

Charming host, beautifully converted gite adjacent to excellent restaurant amid vinyard. Family friendly (old & young!), nothng too much trouble. High spec accommodation, interesting area, pool, space, quiet... Would return.

Lucy, Hurstpierpoint

A lovely find, the gite is hidden in the corner of a very pretty courtyard. Its French Shabby chic meets modern. Clean with a superb bathroom and air conditioning. The luxury of your own heated swimming pool. Warm baguette delivered daily together with other delicious pasties if required. Eat in the restaurant or have food or snacks delivered to your own private patio. This place is very lovely and we would not heitate to go again. Thank you

An extremely well appointed gite set in wonderful peaceful vineyards yet not to far from nearest towns. has added bonus of restaurant across courtyard serving delicious fresh and well priced food. We had the perfect week at Le Caillau and hope to return soon.
