You'll love it here if you like cycling, good food, art, culture, history and the joy of a Sunday market in a perfect medieval village

A super B&B in the heart of a beautiful medieval town and more than just a place to stay. You'll meet Peter (a self-confessed bike fanatic who runs local cycling holidays) and Natalie, a passionate cook who runs workshops and gives you sociable breakfasts round the dining room table and locally-sourced vegetarian dinners influenced by her world travels - vegan and gluten-free too. Bedrooms are cool in the summer months, beds are truly comfortable with Egyptian cotton sheets, bathrooms are spotless. Local points of interest from
Peter & Natalie Quaife:

  • We are close to 4 little known but excellent wine producing regions. Gaillac and Fronton to the south; Cahors and the Quercy to the north. A highlight is the November release of Gaillac Primeur, our version of Beaujolais Nouveaux
  • Every Sunday the best market in the area fills the medieval streets of St Antonin with wonderful and sometimes quirky produce. Local farmers and vignerons rub shoulders with tourists for what is the social highlight of the week.
  • St Antonin has one of the largest and best preserved medieval centres in France with buildings dating back 900 years. Le Cheval Blanc is right at the centre of the old town, a few paces from France's oldest secular building.
  • St Antonin is a "Station Verte" which means it's great for outdoor activities. Most of these centre around the Aveyron gorge and include kayaking, walking, rock climbing, horse riding, caving and paragliding.
  • St Antonin has a flourishing artistic community whose studios are always open to visitors. We have painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists, weavers, serigraphists and jewellers.
  • This is bastide country, a landscape peppered with fortified hilltop villages, little changed through the centuries. Some are beautifully restored, others off the beaten track are pleasingly dilapidated and waiting to be discovered.
