Reviews

We couldn't have been luckier to be at the Villa Caroline. One of us arrived ill and in need of rest. The (Cathedral) room was calm and comfortable, the view lovely. Mario was incredibly kind. His breakfasts, on the sunny terrace or indoors, delicious, just the right amount of everything - homemade yoghurt and jams, fruit, Spanish treats. A bonus for those wanting to picnic on local market produce, a small guest kitchen. We stayed longer than most, and the rest-cure worked! Mario and Patricia made all their guests welcome, and know the area well. Stay a few days.

Local points of interest from Mario Lapuente Ballén

  • Cordes sur Ciel a voyage in time! This city, just twenty minutes from our house, fascinates all those who discover it because it is initially like a mirage: that of a city launching itself into the sky.
  • Revel in our regional specialties, you cannot miss them, upon walks, in markets or restaurants. In traditional “bistrots” or gourmet restaurants alike, you will delight in our delicious foie gras, confits, charcuterie, cheese…all local products !
  • A savoury wonderland. Do you like delicate wines? Gaillac wine comes first with the variety of its fragrances and colors and its typical varieties made in a unique traditional way. Try a wine cellar to open up your senses to surprising discoveries.
  • The very heart of the Albigeois is of course Albi, but the region conceals so many more treasures: Ambialet clinging to the river Tarn meanders,Cordes sur Ciel rising above the skies,Penne and its lofty castle among so many others, are all worth your visit.
  • A wealth of architecture, history and art : Ste Cecile cathedral, the Toulouse-Lautrec museum, the Estonian artist Nicolas Grechny at Monts d’Alban.Red bricks, everywhere in Albi, set the tone.
  • Strange stones in Sidobre. At the very heart of the Regional Natural Haut-Languedoc Park, the largest granite plateau in Europe is a paradise for geographers and for anyone else, kids and grownups alike.
