La Malposte

Reviers, Calvados
Bed & Breakfast

Sit on the footbridge over the stream and enjoy a glass of calvados as you watch the sun go down. You’re close to D-Day beaches

2 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

Walk through the gates to this group of old stone buildings in a garden of moss, trees, hens, flowers, and little bridges over the rushing stream. Patricia and Jean-Michel live in the mill and you stay across the water, in an elegantly rustic stable with your own kitchen.

Hire a boat at Courseulles-sur-Mer (5km), swim in the pool down the road, or explore interesting Bayeux (22km). Its tapestry, commissioned for the inauguration of the cathedral in 1077, is the jewel in its crown.

Bed is at the top of the spiral stair; let the mill stream lull you to sleep. In the morning, wake to a beautiful breakfast of croissants, fruits, cheeses and Patricia’s homemade jams. The entire place is a work of art, and the gardens are Jean-Michel’s pride and joy. Two nights may not be enough.

An exceptionally comfortable night. We reached La Malposte pretty late but Patricia was ready and smiling. Our river-side room was big with peaceful, classy beige décor and a really good bed; good bathroom, too. We had a delicious breakfast in the garden-level dayroom, hung with seaside treasures, and chatted to our hostess about her area. We'd happily come back for two or three days to see the famous ‘tapestry’ and cathedral and visit the landing beaches.

Delightful property and owner. Beautiful house, with a stream running at the side. Looked after extremely well and fabulous breakfast.

Convenient for both tapestry and ferry and the room and facilities so good made our own meal rather than drive to restaurant. The garden and mill stream is probably one of the loveliest we've ever had the pleasure of wandering around. Patricia sells lovely handmade needlework, and Jean-Michel plants.

Patricia & Jean-Michel Blanlot. Excellent hostess, most interesting house and going over the bridge to go to bed, somewhat different as the stream was in full spate after a three day downpour before we arrived. A very accurate write-up about what to do round and about. 8/10

This place is a work of art in itself...the gardens and renovated old mill are out of this world! The care and love that the owners have put into it is incredible! I loved our room, walking the gardens and the breakfast was simply beautiful! La Malposte is well situated close to the D-Day beaches...there is so much to see and experience there...we wish we had more time. I highly recommend this B&B.

Really lovely place with a bubbling brook to add to the romance, really quiet and tranquil, we would certainly stay again

This truly is a lovely place to stay! We enjoyed their large garden which is Jean Michel's pride and joy.

What a beautiful place! And so welcoming to 3 tired small boys who had been cooped up in the car all day. We had the gorgeous 2 bedroom suite and it worked so well for us, as did being able to prepare a simple dinner for us all in the kitchen. Visitors with toddlers should take care of the stream in the garden.

The neighbourhood

You are well placed for the sombre beauty of the D-Day beaches (Juno is 4km, Arromanche 15 km) while the Canadian War Cemetery, much smaller and more personal than the American cemetery, is strolling distance from little Reviers. Bayeux is a must - for its tapestry, its lacemakers and its tearoom, La Reine Mathilde; don't miss the tarte aux pommes. For towering plates of seafood visit Le Bistrot d'à Côté in Port-en-Bessin-Huppain (28km).

Patricia & Jean-Michel Blanlot

Patricia and Jean-Michel have been running their B&B for over 20 years. Warm, kind and accommodating, they are very happy having families to stay. Patricia’s stylish decoration mixes nostalgia with designer tones, and she'll try out her English if your French fails. Jean-Michel is the talent behind the garden.
