Au Vieux Logis

St Didier des Bois, Eure
Bed & Breakfast

Charming historic house that counts author Saint-Exupéry among previous guests. Floral bedrooms and a sensuous garden full of old favourites

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

They are full of character and terribly French, this artist owner and her crooked house marked by the slings and arrows of 500 years: wonky floorboards, bathrooms among the beams, old-fashioned floral bedrooms and a sensuous garden full of old favourites: lilac and honeysuckle, luscious shrubs and fruit trees. Set in the middle of the village, the quiet old house has an atmosphere that inspires ease and rest. (Saint-Exupéry, author of the Le Petit Prince and a friend of Madame’s father, stayed here.) Madame, a good, generous soul, was once an antique dealer so breakfast is served on old silver.

We had a wonderful nights stay. Eclectic and interesting house full of warm french charm. Annick was welcoming and kind.... her cooked dinner was delicious, and the generous serving of gifted Calvados washed it all down a treat!

Daniel, Birmingham

A wonderful place. Uniquely French in its setting and atmosphere. Madame Auzoux made us feel very welcome and provided an excellent dinner with a wine. And fresh croissants and strong coffee for breakfast. All beautifully presented. A fantastic place to stop off.

Chris, Nottingham

Just the most wonderful place! After an 8 hour drive we arrived tired and hungry. Dominic and Annick were just fantastic and so welcoming. The house, fresh flowers in our room and wonderful meal were so special . We will make a detour to visit again

A great place to stay, location right next to the church and a beautiful village to explore. Annik and Dominique are lovely hosts. The rooms are nicely furnished with flowers everywhere. Lovely food and great Calvados.

Great place to stay and lovely food. Off the beaten track but worth the effort. Annick and her support staff made us very welcome and the food ad wine ( and, if you are lucky) a fine calvados to end the evening. She also made our dog welcome!

This was a real walk down memory lane to the France as it used to be when almost 50 years ago we visited each year to enjoy a different way of life. Simple comforts, a warm and genuine welcome, and proper traditional home-cooked French food - and all at such good value. Bravo la vie en France!

An excellent place to stay that offers something truly unique. Extremely warm welcome and the evening meal was delicious. Breakfast was all baked on premises and was superb.

If you are lookibg for something near Rouen you must stay and dine here. Annick assisted by Dominique are brilliant hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The meal was perfect. Build your itinery round it!
