The Experience
Approach this sprawling 19th-century farm through a watercolour of mills, meadows and bridges… friendly French hosts await with a menagerie of four-legged friends. With vintage chairs, suspended lamps, billiards and book-filled mangers, it’s perfect for fun social soirées and François’s four-star dinners. Beams break up modern bedrooms – a triangular bath and a sunburst bed will astound you. Breakfast in the cavernous barn (on goat’s cheese, grainy breads, garden fruits); end the day amongst fireplaces, convivial tables and chesterfields in stone-walled sitting and dining rooms. For nature lovers, couples and families – huge fun.

A beautiful relaxing place to stay. Would have liked to have stayed longer. Sophie was very hospitable and arranged a lovely dinner for us at the local auberge. We will come back again.

Fermes des Isles is an amazing place to stay. It is beautifully renovated, stylishly decorated and fantastically welcoming. We had table d'hote - a really delicious meal prepared with produce grown in the kitchen garden. Aperitifs were served at 8pm beside the log burner and the evening was delightful. We swam in the river in the morning -a perfect tranquil spot- and then warmed up by the log burner before breakfast, which had an amazing array of local jams. There's a great sunday morning market in Lyon-La-Foret, which is a pretty town about 2.5 hours from Calais. A perfect stay!

La Ferme des Isles - what an amazing place to stay! We stayed here en route to Beauville. And again on the way back. What a find! - something interesting to look at at every turn. This beautiful and unusual home has been refurbished with great care and attention. It is extememly comfortable as well and Sophie & Francois are very attentive hosts. The breakfast was delicious - homemade james and yogurts sensational! We would have liked to stay longer to explore the local area but we did have time to eat out in 2 very good restaurants which Sophie very kindly organised for us. Highly recommended!
