The house, picturesquely timbered and behind wrought-iron gates, lies on the edge of a hamlet. The setting is rural; the large garden is delightful. Françoise and her Spanish greyhound are the friendliest hosts. The sitting room is shared (log fireplace, overhead beams) and the colourful, immaculate bedrooms are in the guest wing, the cosiest under the eaves. After a fine continental breakfast – brioche, homemade jams, fruit salad – served in the conservatory at flexible times, set off for Rouen, Honfleur and glamorous Deauville. Table d’hôtes is offered everyday on request – don’t miss it: Françoise is an excellent cook.
