Just beyond the village of St Quentin de Blavou, this 19th-century farmhouse has long sweeping views across the valley and Norman countryside. Isobel is a bubbly Englishwoman who settled here in 2004; her Shetland and Connemara ponies keep her busy – she teaches, too – but she’s still a hands-on hostess. The cosy double has a sloping roof and beams; use the second room, where the bed doubles as a divan, as your sitting room – or sit and chat with Isobel in hers. In fine weather you can breakfast on the terrace and drink in the view. Head out to the countryside for biking and hiking – the peace is divine!
