The Experience

Hidden down lanes, behind an undulating wall, glimpsed through wrought-iron gates, is this big converted barn; Tony and Thierry have been looking after guests, with great pleasure, for years. Rambling gardens and a bountiful vegetable plot run down to wide open pasture. Under the high glass atrium of the breakfast room lies the heart of the house with wood-burner, piano and windows opening to undulating views, while peaceful and immaculate bedrooms hop from fabric-swathed opulence to a more simple country elegance. Hosted dinners are convivial and delicious; Reims, rich in history and gastronomy, is under an hour.

This is a superb place to stay. We were three people and shared the suite which was beautifully appointed and very comfortable for us all. The evening meal is an absolute must, and the ambience from arrival to departure was friendly, elegant, and the added bonus of a very friendly welcome from the two adorable resident dogs, who were very discreetly part of the household. We were travelling from the Channel to Alsace for a week cruise on the canals, and could not have found a more pleasent place to break our journey.

This is undoubtedly one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in – and we have stayed in a lot! Walking up to the front door of a French village house, the surprise when you walk into a 1920s/30s style living room, huge with high ceilings, wooden and tiled floors and furniture in keeping with the style. Tony was an excellent host, welcoming and friendly. The room was superbly equipped with a beautiful bathroom. There is a double height atrium where we had delicious dinners and breakfasts, both deliciously cooked and served by Tony who joined us for a family-type meal. We will return.

Stay for Dinner. it goes without saying (but i'll say it anyway) that the bedrooms are superbly furnished, quiet, comfortable and immaculate. . But Thierry and Tonys invite for dinner is a treat. Tony cooks beautifully with local ingredients and great care. Thierry is your host and will conduct the conversation in English, French, and I'm sure other languages from aperitif to digestif. The other guests had all stayed before and I can see why. we will definitely return and hopefully stay more than just one night. .

Wonderful restored barn sensationally done. The rooms are gorgeous and Tony and Thierry are excellent company joining us for a superb dinner cooked by Tony. A must if you are travelling to or from Calais area.

Tony and Thierry are the consummate hosts, from handling enquiries, to their discreet and subtle approach and to making excelllent recommendations for onward journeys. The room was gorgeous, the bed, the most comfortable of the two week holiday and the food! Fantastic! We've found a new favourite place to return to and explore the region from. Thank you Tony and Thierry

Our second stay, this time two nights, with Tony and Thierry. They are wonderful hosts and "simply" excellent food was served again! Delightful conversation around the dinner table before retiring to our spotlessly clean room. We recommend most highly and we will return!

Fantastic place to stay. Lovely decor. What a great job the owners have done in renovating this old barn. Very friendly reception. Memories of Tony's amazing cooking and Thierry's great sense of humour will stay with us for a long time! We will definitely be back. Only 10 mins off the motorway means it's a great place to stop on the journey to and from the UK.

Heather, Gryon

What a great place to stay. Tony and Thierry and the dogs made us very welcome. Excellent room with lovely outside sitting area. The food was delicious and the chat around the dinner table great fun. There were two of us staying that evening with dietary requirements which had been noted and well catered for. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend for a stopover on a journey or a place to make a centre for a visit to this area of France.

Very impressive conversion by the owners themselves from barn to superb home and excellent chambre d'hôte accommodation. Attention to detail from the warm welcome from Tony and Thierry to the comfort of the en suite room which looked out onto open countryside and the delicious and beautifully presented 4-course dinner was faultless. Breakfast was equally good and the dinner conversation between our hosts and the other two English couples staying was extremely convivial and entertaining. Highly recommended either for one or more nights.

Carol, West Bridgford

We had a very nice stay the food and ambience was exceptional We were tired from our nine hour journey and we were not allowed on the premises till checking in time which meant we had to drive around for an hour I recommend turning up at the correct time

Natalie, Kings lynn

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived at this picturesque barn. Rooms are airy and a very good size with lovely views over the country side. The dinner was really delicious and generous with interesting and entertaining conversation. Highly recommended.

My wife Jean and I both felt that this was one of the best stays we have experienced on our various travels through France. We were made to very welcome by both Thierry and Tony and enjoyed fantastic a fabulous 4 course dinner in the evening followed by a wonderful nights sleep in sumptuous accommodation. We would look forward to staying here again.

Wow. What a fabulous place to stay. Great welcome, rooms well appointed and spotless (we had the suite, which was great), truly beautiful location in rolling countryside with the river at the end of the lane, yet within easy reach of the motorway, Reims and Champagne. Dinner was a wonderful experience with tasty, well cooked food and drink in a lovely convivial and relaxed atmosphere. Hearty breakfast. Our dogs loved it too and were as welcome as we were. Tony et Thierry are perfect hosts - sorry, you will be seeing a lot more of us!

Echoing other guest comments, rooms as good as a top hotel, a warm welcome from Tony and Thierry and Ipsy the dog, tea on the terrace, drinks on the terrace preceding a wonderful table d'hôte meal - don't miss this. The best by far of the combination of hotel and chamber d'hôtes on our two week road trip. We included a brief visit to the Chemin des Dames site of the Caverne du Dragon and to Reims Cathedral. Hoping to come again.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay with Tony & Thierry in the quiet hamlet of Cuiry-les-Chaudardes. Sleep quality was excellent as La Grange looks out onto lush fields and the River Aisne. Tony's 4 course meals are delicious and good value. The wine flows. We have never visited this part of France before and found plenty to do - champagne producers within 45 mins, the city of Reims, and oodles of World War 1 historical sites. Thierry speaks excellent English and conversation was lively and interesting. Tick tick tick

We stayed two nights at La grange. It's a great experience with very nice surroundings and lovely hosts. Tony and Thierry are very gentle and ready to serve you at the best. Dinner was excellent and breakfast. Tony : You are great cooker. Thierry : Excellent waiter :) We were 4 in the suite. Very clean, very comfortable and very quiet. All thumbs up for this location and looking forward going back there as it's near from the great champagne area.

On arrival we were greeted by a smiling Thierry (who speaks excellent English) who showed us to our room. We were immediately made to feel as if we invited there as their guests rather than us booking with them- a first for me in any B&B! A lovely dinner made by Tony and a relaxing nights sleep later and we were ready to go and, after arranging an early leave with Thierry the night before, we had breakfast an hour earlier than they would usually serve it- all of this done without a moments hesitation and with a smile on their face. ll in all a little gem- thanks Tony & Thierry!

A fantastic B & B. Thierry and Tony are so welcoming. An amazing house with wonderful views. A fabulous evening meal with champagne to start and delicious breakfast. Thoroughly recommended.

Very enjoyable stay. Beautiful house, imaginatively refurbished, bedrooms superbly styled with excellent bed and imaginative showerroom, separate WC. Dinner is a must, very professional, excellent value for money . Charming hosts

Cannot recommend highly enough. Stunning property, warmest welcome, superb food and fabulous setting, not to mention exceptional value. Will never forget superb breakfast looking out over beautiful countryside while Tony plyed piano in the background. A dream.
