The Experience

In a residential area on the outskirts of Rivedoux Plage, are three whitewashed, shuttered and impeccably maintained apartments, a short walk from the beach. The design and the décor have been carefully considered and calm reigns supreme. Nothing is too much trouble for delightful Christian and Jocelyne, who will pick you up from the airport and insist on giving you the best: a choice of linen, snowy towels for the bathroom and coloured towels for the pool. Bedrooms, which open to an elegant and spacious terrace, are roomy, restful, flooded with light. After visiting the boulangerie for morning croissants and browsing the markets, come back to unwind – slope off to a cushioned sunbed by the heated pool, or sit back in the hot tub, warmed to 37 degrees all year round. Spin off on a bike (there are six, in tip-top condition and free of charge) and lose yourself on the island: the hollyhocks and whitewashed houses of villages like La Flotte, the fabulous white sand beaches, the chic shops and markets of St Martin.

Reviews

I can highly recommend this delightful private self catering accommodation on the southern end of Ile de Re. Our first trip was delightful and memorable thanks to our attentive hosts who couldn't have been more welcoming. Our one bedroom studio "Salicorne" was on the end and featured a compact, well equipped high end kitchen diner overlooking the pool and garden. Huge bed was very comfy, gorgeous shower and tub. One of those places where you can tell a lot of love and care has been taken with decor and finishes. Clean and lovely. I'm picky! and wouldn't hesitate booking again.

I did not stay in la Maison des Algues (although I had a peek at the place and it looked lovely) but the charming owner Jocelyne let me recharge my Tesla an entire afternoon. So definitely a a very good address to stay given the scarcity of charge points on the island.
