Vents et marées Ile d'Oléron

Saint Pierre d'Oléron, Charente-Maritime
Bed & Breakfast

Spacious rooms with a seaside feel tucked away from the bustling streets but just a pebble’s throw from the beach

4 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

Hidden down narrow cobbled streets are these light and bright rooms surrounded by shared gardens filled with fig, mimosa and roses. Madame Geffroy, a Paris stylist, has given them a New England beach feel with jaunty stripes, old shutters as mirrors, surf boards and ships’ flags on panelled walls, smart new bathrooms with walk-in showers and pebbled floors. Breakfast on homemade jams, freshly-baked artisan bread and galettes charentaises under a wooden pergola or around Madame’s kitchen table. Golden sands and the Atlantic are a five minute stroll: hire bikes locally or take a boat to bustling La Rochelle or neighbouring islands.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Marie Geffroy

  • My rooms are located in the heart of a typical village, between alleys surrounded by hollyhocks and figs, and the central vineyards of Ile d'Oléron
  • An old farm "Oléronaise", where vine was cultivated for Pineau Charentais bottling.
