The
Experience

A bright white table greets you, topped with books and info, and teas and coffees to the side – and Judy and Peter, full of generosity and good humour, proud of their finely restored barn. Grazing cows, farmland, more barns: the setting is green and deliciously peaceful. Tucked under the eaves, the en suite shower rooms are as fresh and charming as the bedrooms themselves, and the treats continue at table… what could be nicer than to be served a beautiful dinner under a wisteria-strewn pergola on a warm southern night? Ancient Angouleme is an easy drive, bustling market town Chasseneuil is even closer.

We stayed for one night on our way to a fishing lake close by and had a lovely stay. Peter and Judy were very friendly and easy to chat too especially during the fabulous dinner Judy had prepared. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole place was a credit to them both as they have renovated it to a very high standard. We will definitely return if we are back in this area.

Familie Krudde, Hilversum

Charming building, peaceful. Friendly and attentive hosts. A relaxing experience. A must is the dinner. A return visit compulsory!

A fantastic place - Judy and Peter have done a wonderful job of renovating this property to a high standard and make their guests feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend Wisteria House as an excellent base to tour the surrounding area. We hope to return in the future for some more of their excellent hospitality

After spending a wonderful week at Wisteria House. Judy & Peter are perfect hosts, kind, attentive and friendly. The house is cosy and tranquil. Dinners were delicious with lots of wine and conversation. This is an ideal base for exploring this lovely part of France. Thank you Judy & Peter - we really enjoyed our stay with you.

A wonderful gem to find ourselves in after a long drive from the south of france. Judy and Peter could not have been more accomodating although we were later than planned. The food was absolutely exquisite and the accomodation beautiful with many original features in all the bedrooms. A wonderful nights sleep and a hearty breakfast to send us all on our final leg of our journey home. Thankyou Judy and Peter- highly recommended.

What a lovely find! Were made very welcome by Peter and Judy and the twin room, under the eaves, was beautifully furnished and comfortable. The shower was excellent too. We had a lovely first evening with excellent cooking....what a meal!....and the conversation flowed as we learned about their life in rural France. Very good location for exploring the area and plenty of maps/information and advice available. I would certainly return if in the area

A wonderful stay: a warm welcome, beautiful well appointed house standing in lovely gardens and very comfortable accommodation. Excellent breakfast and Judy's delicious 4 course dinners are not to be missed. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay amongst beautiful countryside, peace and tranquillity.

Travelling with two young children is never restful but Judy and Peter ensured that our time spent here was an oasis of calm. The rooms are immaculate and in a lovely annexe attached to the main house and whilst we unpacked the children were invited down to play boules in the garden and meet the chickens. Judy’s cooking should not to be missed and an entertaining evening was spent eating delicious home cooked (and in some cases home grown) food, chatting over wine and finding out about their life in France. Without doubt a very special place and one we will be returning to again.

Judy and peter have created a beautiful retreat. The work Peter has done coupled with Judith's cooking (you have to eat supper!) is amazing. We atsyed one night and were very impressed by the room, the hosts, the building and the price. Stay; you won't regret it.

Dominic

We were warmly greeted by Judy and Peter and shared an aperitif with them in the afternoon sun. This was followed by an excellent dinner and a comfortable nights sleep. What more could you wish for. Thoroughly recommended.
