The Experience

Come to be royally treated, but not in a stuffy way. Reception rooms with golden candelabras are glamorous yet feel relaxed, cosy bedrooms are luxurious, bathrooms plushly elegant.

The creativity of the chefs with locally sourced and seasonal produce makes eating here a highlight. There’s an enticing range of menus to choose from and you can eat in the smart restaurant or out on the terrace overlooking the golf course. And do arrange a wine-tasting: the smart cellar here has some 20,000 bottles, and there’s a Cognac Room too, with cigar cellar.

Of course golfers will be in their element (nearby Niort has an 18-hole course too), but you can also simply walk out into the countryside, hire bikes, do very little – in style. Beautiful La Rochelle is 80-minutes drive. The châteaux of the Loire two hours. Treat yourselves to a few days here en route south west…

A little jewel box of a French château hotel with lots of sparkling detail! I had a very memorable lunch here, attentively looked after by the team and was given a thorough tour of the hotel and shown the eccentric attention to detail by a proud member of staff.

The neighbourhood

In typically lovely Deux-Sèvres countryside this 17th-century château has its own 18-hole (Berthet-designed) course for golfers and acres of woodland with ponds for wildlife watchers, cyclists and walkers. You'll want to eat here, but historic, arty Niort (a 30 minute drive) has good restaurants too and a daily indoor market; try local specialities like Chabichou cheese and Angelica Liqueur.

Local points of interest from Younan Collection

  • For families with babies, we can also provide changing mats and bottle warmers.
  • It's possible to go wild swimming and kayaking on the lake and pool. We also hold winemaking courses - just ask for more details about this.
  • For those travelling by train, we're 15km from Parthenay station, 19km from Saint Maixent l'Ecole and 26km from Poitiers.
