You’re within strolling distance of one of the prettiest towns in the Marais Poitevin. The blue-shuttered lodge has been transformed by this happy, hospitable British couple into a colourful home with the guest suite on the first floor: white walled, wooden floored, clean-limbed and spotless. The garden is immaculate too, with lawns and colourful borders, croquet, table tennis and (shared with gîtes) super pool. Garden fruits make an appearance at breakfast in homemade juices and jams; clever Marylyn even makes brioche. Dinner might include goat’s cheese from the area and lamb from the farmer next door. A treat.
