The Experience

This old winemaking farm has been converted into a stylish B&B by Matthieu and his partner Damien. The ground floor of the barn was turned into the spacious cooking and eating area, and the mezzanine sitting area is stocked with books and games.

Matthieu is a passionate pastry chef and unsurprisingly, breakfast is amazing – breads, pastries, jams, yogurts, cakes and biscuits (everything homemade) plus local juices, cheese and hams. He’ll happily whip you up a simple lunch or dinner using seasonal produce, or you can stroll to a nearby brewery, which has its own restaurant – there are tours at 4pm every day.

You’re a 20-minute drive from historic Poitiers, with its magnificent Romanesque church and museums of both art and history. Kids will love Futuroscope theme park, a ten-minute drive, and the Vallée des Singes primate park, 45 minutes away.

Reviews

We spent a couple of nights at this residence whilst dropping our daughter off at Poitier university. Matthieu provided us with a warm welcome and the rooms were beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The three of us enjoyed a wonderful vegetarian meal (our request) on the first evening and the breakfasts were very enjoyable - home made jams, yoghurts, cakes and biscuits along with fresh figs from the garden. The bathroom was also brand new with a great shower and lovely shower gels provided. It really felt as though nothing was too much trouble for Matthieu. We would definitely stay again

This would be a lovely address to spend a night or two en-route to somewhere via the A10. The owners are full of energy and enthusiasm.

Location

The neighbourhood

The property is in the middle of the sleepy village of Neuville-de-Poitou - you can walk to some Neolithic dolmens and the local market on Thursdays and Sundays. Charming local towns such as Angles-sur-l'Anglin, Chauvigny, St Savin and La Roche Posay are half an hour to an hour's drive.

Local points of interest from Matthieu Reveau

  • The Futuroscope is 10 minutes from the B&B.
  • There are many small beautiful villages to visit.
  • We offer evening meals with local and homemade products. The breakfasts are homemade by Matthieu
  • Our B&B is an old wine farm of the 1900's.
  • We will be happy to make you discover the oil mill of Neuville de Poitou, the brewery of Bellefois which is next to the B&B.

Introducing

Matthieu Reveau

Matthieu and Damien live next door with their yorkie. Matthieu was a professional show-jumping rider and instructor, before finding his vocation as a passionate cook and pastry chef. He loves making all sorts of patisserie, from madeleines and canelés to far more elaborate concoctions.
