The Experience

Above the owners’ house and through the gate is the pool. Below are two cottages 15m apart, in grounds that merge with the neighbours’. The air is pure, the setting idyllic, and you could swim and snooze all day. Come night time, dine on your terrace as you gaze on the ‘village perché’ above.

The cottages are on different levels and the walls are thick, so they feel both private and cool. Furnishings are simple but tastefully done, and wood-burners add to the rustic charm.

Enjoy the fragrance boutiques of Grasse (8km), and the beaches of Antibes (25km). The medieval village is a brisk 20-minute walk uphill. Of its restaurants, two are worth a detour: ‘L’ecole des Filles’ and ‘Bistro Le Donjon’.

Two stone cottages in the middle of the countryside but close enough to the Riviera and un-touristy perched villages in the Provencal back lands to fulfil any holiday agendas. The whole area has a rustic charm and is a relaxing, bucolic sanctuary surrounded by nature, wildlife, olive trees and oak forests.

The neighbourhood

Perched villages dot the bucolic countryside, including unspoilt, untouristy Le Bar sur Loup, 2km up the hill. It has a few small shops and a clutch of really good restaurants. The narrow streets below the castle still feel medieval, and the views over the Loup valley are stunning. Walkers will love it, so set off for the perched village of Gourdon; you can be there in under three hours.

Local points of interest from Sylvie & Pascal Delaunay

  • A perfect place to visit the french riviera and stay in a really quiet place... Lots of walks from here, lots of place to visit less than one hour drive, lots of good restaurants and museum... Lots of reasons to stay at home too!
  • Discover the breathtaking views and spectacular scenery of the Gorges du Loup, only a few minutes away.
  • The old fortified town of St Paul de Vence is just 20 minutes away - prepare to be charmed by the narrow, cobbled streets and enticed by the various artisans' galleries and shops. The picturesque mediaeval village of Tourrettes sur Loup is nearby too.
  • Visit Gourdon, one of the most beautiful perched villages in France, with its mediaeval fortress and 12th Century Roman Church, with views over to Corsica.
  • The perfume capital of the world, Grasse, is just a stone's throw away. With a choice of 3 perfumeries and museums, the characterful old town and cathedral, there is much to discover.
  • Just 30 minutes away is the glamorous resort of Cannes, famous for La Croisette, the film festival, yacht marina, and bustling shopping town and nightlife.

Sylvie & Pascal Delaunay

The friendly but discreet French owners live in the main house and tend not to use the pool when guests stay. Sylvie, who works in a local bookshop-café, was brought up here, loves country life, and knows the region well. The welcome pack includes a bottle of rosé and olives from the garden.
