In the northern part of Nice, a short tram ride from the city’s rich culture (buses also stop virtually at the gate), Villa L’Aimée was built in 1929 and is typical of its period. Toni’s decoration has restored the villa to a modern opulence. Much-travelled – one of her lives was in the art world – Toni, who is English, has created delightful bedrooms in subtle colours with damasks and silks, fine linen, tulle canopies and elegant furnishings, exuding an air of luxury. The original parquet is breathtaking, the breakfasts excellent. A peaceful corner of Nice from which to invade the bubblier down-town.
