The Experience

Stroll to the village’s three restaurants and its shady squares; they come to life at aperitif time. Recline in the shade of the chestnut tree as birds sing, cicadas hum and the children splash in the pool. The garden, a walled oasis, is a mix of lawn, shrubs and trees, and big enough to include ample parking (a godsend).

Due to the gracious proportions of this 18th-century house, each room feels private and spacious. Watch a DVD in the screening room, choose a book from the library – there’s even a piano to play. What’s more, thanks to two kitchens and a two-storey wing at the rear, you have the option to rent five bedrooms not ten.

Hop in the car for Avignon to discover its wonderful but little-known collections of art, or the hilltop Frigolet Abbey, one of the most authentic, least visited abbeys in Provence.

Location

The neighbourhood

Graveson, big enough to have a few shops and a Friday market, lies between the famous towns of Avignon (ten kilometres) and St Remy (15 kilometres). It’s also striking distance from the sun-dappled market town of Uzes; from Arles with its Roman amphitheatre; and from the World Heritage aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. Another must-visit is the canal town of Ile Sur La Sorgue (35 kilometres); it has the best selection of antique shops in the whole of the Vaucluse.

Introducing

Ludovic

Ludovic and Olivia - he French, she American - are London-based but love Provence and always wanted to buy here. They have great taste and are fastidious about keeping the character and original features of their houses. They, or the caretakers will welcome you.
