The Experience

In a Provençal village known for its international piano festival is a grand eighteenth-century house with two elegant rooms. Bubbly Lis welcomes you into a chequerboard-tiled hall where musical guests can try out the old family piano. Both rooms are on the second floor: the Rose room, a cosy twin room, has iron beds and garden views; the Tamara room, a chic country-style double, has a sunny balcony and a smart en-suite. Take breakfast on the terrace in the tranquil garden shaded with fig and olive trees. Take a dip in the pool, relax in the garden or hop in the car to find beautiful villages and the Silvacane Abbey. In the evening, stroll to good restaurants nearby.

Our hosts Lis and Graham were extremely hospitable and interesting people with a wealth of knowledge about places we wished to visit even giving us written directions, at the same time not wishing to impose on our and the other guests' privacy. Their advice about local restaurants was very good and they were happy to book a table for us. I cannot give you a report without mentioning their beautiful friendly obedient golden retriever Max who was also welcoming. All in all a very worthwhile and happy stay in a village well situated for visiting interesting places round about.

What a gorgeous place in a gorgeous part of the world . Stayed for 3 nights , wish it could have been longer . Our room was lovely and the house is full of character with a private garden and pool area , didn't use the pool personally but it looked lovely. Hosts are extremely welcoming and full of info on the area , nice to be invited for welcome drinks and nibbles in the garden once your settled in . Booked us a table at a local restaurant first night , fabulous food , then again on our last night in Loumarin , lovely steak . Must also mention the breakfasts , yum . Thank you Lis & Grayham

We contacted Lis and Graham on the chance that they had accommodation after a bad experience elsewhere. The house is lovely, full of books and collectables. Our room was on the top floor and had a little terrace and a well appointed shower room with toilet. Although situated in the small town of La Roque d'Anthéron, it is easy to find and beautifully quiet. Breakfast had everything one would want and more. Our hosts really turned our holiday around, giving tips on great places to visit and eat. Both my wife and I would like to thank Lis and Graham for our very enjoyable four days.

Liz and Graham were wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to help us with local information and suggestions on where to go to make the most of out time with them. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the courtyard and pool were private and relaxing. Thank you for looking after our family, Liz and Graham.

This is a delightful and authentic place to stay with super hosts who guide you to the very best of everything you want to experience. We loved the old house and our peaceful top floor suite with the sweetest little balcony where we read, catching the last of the days sun with swallows darting around us. A super village with lovely bars, cafes and restaurants and easy to get to many wonderful nearby sights. Time by the pool is very special too so altogether a highly recommended place in Provence.

Beautiful house, welcoming hosts and a delightful village. We were made to feel at home and had a great time relaxing by the pool. Breakfast was fabulous and Lis was more than helpful, suggesting places to visit and places to eat. A memorable stay.

Local points of interest from Lis & Graham Steeden

  • Our old house is from 1718 and we hope that you will enjoy staying with us. Both bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. Both are comfortable to make our guests stay relaxing. Towels, pool towel, bathrobe, shampoo, body wash and hairdryer are in each room.
  • Our hall is full of books and an old family piano, all there for our guests to enjoy, as is our garden with pool (9m x 4m). Our old house is not suitable for children under the age of 14. Whilst we have a lovely Golden Retriever, we do not accept pets.
  • The park at Château de Florans (4min walk) is each year host to the big international music festival in 2020 it will be in its 40th year. The village arts festival is at the same time and we have art exhibited in our little forecourt during the festival.
  • The beautiful Silvacane Abbey - one of the famous '3 Sisters in Provence' is on the edge of our village and well worth a visit. During the year and during the music festival, the abbey is host to many music concerts as well as art exhibitions.
  • There are many lovely villages and markets only a short drive away ie Lourmarin, Cucuron, Bonnieux, Goult, Menerbes, Gordes, St Remy-de-Provence and many more. Beautiful Aix-en-Provence is a must and its market is big and colourful! Aix bus is 3min away!
  • Look at 'Things to do' with lots of info in minutes/hours/kilometres, it will give our guests an idea how far away places are from our house. A 50% deposit is needed when booking. Min stay is 2 nights.
