The Experience

All you hear is the trilling of birds, the splashing of the pool and the hum of the cicadas. The villa lies at the top of the winding road, a sturdy walk up from tiny Correns, with the immense forest at your feet. The garden has wonderful views through old oak trees… and sometimes you’ll hear wild boar at night.

The house, built in 2004, has been impeccably renovated by Aileen and Patrick, who live (with black labrador Max) in the villa’s Provencal tower. All three are delightful, and discreet. Your own space covers two floors, with ample terraces, bedrooms up and down: depending on the size of your group, you can take two bedrooms or all three of them.

It’s an hour’s drive to Aix, and not much further to the Riviera, but you’re deep in the Var here where you can ride horses, rent bikes, climb cliffs, watch birds, catch fish, wild swim and kayak from the beautiful river which cascades through the village.

Reviews

One of the best! A beautiful and extremely comfortable house in a perfect location. The extensive terrace across the back of the property is quite private and yet has stunning views across the valley - the perfect spot for lazing away the late afternoon and evening. There is an easy walk into Correns for the morning bread and great countryside for more energetic walks right from the door. Thank you for a delightful week - we hope to be back.

Great location near quiet village. A really well equipped house shared with discreet and helpful owners. The 4 of us had a great time - lots to see and do in the local area. The pool area and balconies are top class. Kayaking at Vallon Sourn a great memory.

Ideal location to discover the beautiful french villages and the stunning gorges and river. Villa has everything you need (and more) and has generous space for a family with various terraces to use. Tasteful and well maintained with great French touches ! Hosts are helpful and have plenty to recommend.

Thanks very much to Aileen and Pat for a fabulous week - we wished we could have stayed longer. This is a fantastic property. The accommodation was perfect for a family of five (3 teenagers) plus grandparents. The views from the balconies (both sunny at different times of the day) were amazing and the large pool was a highlight. The villa is situated in a lovely peaceful location with plenty to do close by. We particularly enjoyed kayaking at the Vallon Sourn, climbing at the châteauvert crag and dinner at the Auberge in Correns. Aileen & Pat were extremely welcoming and helpful. Thanks again

We enjoyed a very hot week staying at Aileen and Pat's property. The pool was a welcoming sight after a long day of traveling through Provence. The house is in a beautiful, peaceful setting with a wonderful terrace to enjoy both in the morning and evening. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything you could need. I cooked every night which was wonderful. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor were spacious and very comfortable. We could not ask for better hosts, they were discreet but there if we needed anything. Thank you Aileen and Pat for sharing your lovely property

Simply heaven on earth - wonderful house, pool, surroundings, and village - not to mention the hosts. The house was delightfully cool with AC and fans, the kitchen extremely well equipped and more than met all of our needs. A special mention of the balcony with a stunning view - pictures on the website don't do the view justice. We had a fantastic time, and will certainly return.

We recently spent a week at this beautiful property and enjoyed it a great deal. The setting is lovely and the facilities are top notch (the amazing pool and stunning terrace being particular favourites). Correns is a beautiful village and the local amenities (including a fabulous boulangerie, small grocery store and organic shop) suited us perfectly. The owners, who live on site, were lovely - discrete but accessible - and it felt like a home away from home. Would highly recommend.

Travelling with two very young children (4 & 20months) it’s hard to believe you can have a relaxing holiday! Well we certainly did at Eileen and Pat’s beautiful house located in an idilic setting. Spacious and well equipped house with great safe verandas for the children to play on and the pool was fantastic. We were able to walk into the village with the children where you will find two grocery shops, restaurant and a bakery, a lovely river where the children paddled, it’s uphill back but easily doable. Lots of surrounding areas to visit, we would highly recommend staying here.

As a family of 2+2 on a spring break, we found the guest house perfect for spring break, relaxing decoration, a kitchen equipped with everything you might think of and two terraces - one for breakfast, and a big sun terrace, with BBQ, for afternoons and evenings. The locale is lovely too, a nice old village with some historical and natural features, a decent general store and a shady restaurant, and Europe's biggest gorge within 45 mins by car. The locale is lovely too, a nice old village with some historical features, lots of organic wine & food. We're already booking a return visit!

Simply Splendid! We couldn't have asked for more, the house is a true 'home from home', with every little detail thought through. The kitchen is more than adequately kitted out and it was a real pleasure to cook in. The beds were absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable. Everything exceeded our expectations, the area, the stunning views from the terraces, it is very hard leave this little corner of paradise! Pat and Aileen are the perfect hosts and Max was a delight. We would very much love to return in the future.

We have spent two wonderful months in this lovely gite, it has been so comfortable and really well equipped - a proper home from home. Pat & Aileen have been wonderful hosts, allowing us to enjoy their property and pool as if it was our own. Giving us privacy to relax and enjoy the peacefulness, but always there when we needed help and information. Our two spaniels were also made most welcome and we have all had a ball. We love this beautiful slice of the Var/Provence and the little village of Correns - we have already booked in for next year.

Carol, Devon

We spent a wonderful 3 weeks in Aileen’s and Pats La Bastide de Correns. We stayed in both the 2 and 3 bedroom holiday accommodation which were both beautifully appointed. The property is a haven of peace and is situated in a beautiful part of Provence. From the drive you can walk for hours along country tracks through woods and olive groves surrounded by the most spectacular scenery. The views from the sun terrace are absolutely amazing. Correns is a working village within easy walking distance and is full of charm and we look forward to returning in the future

We had a fabulous fortnight at this fantastic gite in a wonderfully peaceful part of Provence - it really was incredibly tough to leave! Aileen and Pat are lovely hosts, incredibly welcoming yet entirely discreet too. The gite's best features are its terraces, it was an absolute joy to breakfast on the east-facing terrace and dine on the west-facing terrace, both of which gave stunning views out on to mountains, woodlands and vineyards and the huge heated pool, perfect for relaxing lazy days. That said, the interior of the gite is also delightful - very comfortable and furnished beautifully.

This is by far the most comfortable and well thought out vacation rental that we have found in France. The house is very well decorated and the beds are great, plus nice white fluffy towels and everything sparkling clean. The big terrace has a super outdoor sofa and views - we cooked in most nights and sat outside until late. The pool is nice and big and it was heated too, so great for early morning swims. Our hosts were incredibly kind and friendly but didn't intrude at all, we always got a warm welcome when we popped around to their house for help, which we did a lot!

Sarah, Dublin

The house and its surroundings are in reality even more beautiful than in the photos. The house is not far from the village, but a car is necessary to explore.Everything you need is provided, down to the smallest details. Pat and Aileen are very friendly and pleasant people who do everything to make you feel comfortable. We have had a fantastic holiday and recommend that everyone who loves peace certainly book here! From us it gets 6 stars! Jacky, Arlet, Ivo and Sonja

A real gem. We spent a wonderful week here with our girls, 11 & 14, we enjoyed the house and the beautiful, peaceful surroundings very much. The house is clean, spacious and cozy and we felt at home immediately. Extremely well-equipped, not least the kitchen, making home cooking a real pleasure. We enjoyed a week with a mix of relaxing at the house/the pool and the Provence attractions, Correns is perfectly situated for this.Add to all this the hospitality of our hosts, Aileen and Pat, and their down-to-earth way of welcoming - we can honestly say that this is our favourite holiday spot.

Wonderful! My husband and I spent 2 months at La Bastide de Correns and we had a fabulous time. The gite is super comfortable and is extremely well equipped. We loved dining on the terrace with it's superb views. The location is ideal for exploring the Provence, which we did on foot and by car. The village has a bar, restaurant ( the food is delicious)and a couple of shops, all this a 10 minute walk away. There is so much to do and explore and the weather was fantastic. Pat and Aileen are great hosts, always available and very helpful.

Introducing

Aileen McQuaid

After several years living and working in Switzerland, Irish Patrick and Aileen took to the road in search of their dream home. After two years they found it, in a rural corner of Provence. They live on site, warmly greet their guests, and leave you in peace - but are always there for you should you need them.
