The Experience

Wake to breakfast on the terrace, where potted palms create an exotic mood and church bells chime. With Patrice your host and Grimaud your backdrop, it’s an idyllic way to start the day.

This is a beautiful home in one of the best-kept ‘villages perchés’ of Provence. Set off for St Tropez’s boutiques and bustle, or Pampelonne Plage where the beautiful people bask. Return to Grimaud, streets bright with bougainvillea, drink in breathtaking views from the castle ruin, have dinner out.

The house is named after Prince Rainier of Monaco, once a frequent visitor. Find books, old prints and lithographs and distinctive Moroccan touches – from the vaulted cellars to the third-floor bedrooms. Each room is individual and each immaculate. Two have peaceful terraces; some have views of the Gulf of St Tropez.

Maison Du Prince and its owner Patrice are a delight and we had a wonderful 5 night stay in September. Everything is as it should be and Alastair Sawday can wax lyrical about this place and it deserves it. Situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Grimaud close to local restaurants (Patrice will advise you where to go) it is very fairly priced and breakfast time with the other guests was a great start to the day. We will certainly return to this gem.

Lorraine, Harrogate

Location, breakfast, terrace, host, all were wonderful. We stayed for 2 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. Patrice the host was wonderful, helpful and accommodating. We had the Prince room (2 floors with a beautiful terrace on the second floor.) Highly recommended bnb, probably the best we had in 3 weeks in France. Grimaud is a lovely spot. We will come again.

JONATHAN, Charlton

Amazing stay Great value for money! The property is a fully renovated house with lots of books and art, in a wonderful old village. Rooms are small but delightful, with big bathrooms. Breakfast is excellent, with local products. Fully recommend! Thank you Patrice!

Andreea, Bucharest

The neighbourhood

Grimaud is a medieval hilltop village overlooking the yacht-studded bay of the Gulf of Saint Tropez. It is also on the edge of the Massif des Maures, whose forested hills attract cyclists and hikers. A peaceful retreat close to the razzmatazz of Cannes, Monte Carlo, Antibes and St Tropez, this well-kept, well-heeled village is endowed with good restaurants and a lively Thursday market.

Local points of interest from Patrice Faviere

  • There is a bustling food market every Thursday. This is a great opportunity to fill up with fresh fruits and vegetables, sample provencal specialities like goat cheese, donkey sausage, anchoïade (anchovy paste) and tapenade (olive paste).
  • The local boules field (terrain de pétanque) is very near the house and we'll lend you all the equipment so you can have a go at this local "sport" (Provence's answer to darts) whilst sipping a glass of pastis.
  • Grimaud has a large choice of restaurants, for all tastes and budgets, all within a short walking distance. This is ideal if you don't feel lile driving after a long day exploring the region, or just chilling at the beach !
  • The region is absolutely crammed with vineyards, so if you are a bit of a wine lover you'll be in heaven. The Côtes de Provence region offers some fine rouge, white and of course rosé at very affordable prices.
  • For culture lovers, Grimaud has actually a lot to offer given its small size. There are monthly classical concerts, a history museum, art exhibitions, a pop music festival, many local celebrations & fairs and even a European Harley Davidson event.
  • Last and not least about Grimaud is its unique atmosphere. Whilst only a few miles from bustling Saint-Tropez, it could not be more different. Here it is all about enjoying the little & simple things that make provençal living so enjoyable and unique.
