Considering its closeness to the coast (Bandol is only 15 minutes away) this pocket of Provence, a hop from the autoroute, is wonderfully unspoilt. A driveway flanked with ancient olives leads to your meticulously restored ‘mas,’ with dreamy views to the perched village above, and the friendly housekeeper who lives nearby meets, greets and shows you around. She cleans, too, and leaves a lovely country breakfast six days a week, so no need to rush out for croissants. You enter a large entrance hall with an even larger living area off it, open-plan, tiled-floor and contemporary, with a bleached antique table, pale-blue sofas, satellite TV, Sonos sound, books, games and a kitchen that’s a cook’s delight. You’re also blessed with a pizza pergola, a summer kitchen, and small shops nearby, in hilltop La Cadière d’Azur. Four immaculate bedrooms lie upstairs and one down, each with a fabulous bathroom. Wake to blue skies and cicadas, drift onto peaceful patios, relax in young gardens, discover markets, vineyards, medieval perched villages, and beautiful Cassis on the coast.
