The
Experience

A concert of colour sings from this handsome hotel: mellow old stone, pale blue shutters against creeper clad walls; a dash of turquoise in the two-tiered swimming pool, the pale green swathe of vines all around. In the lofty living room the high beams and neutral walls make the most of the light, while framed art and vast bookcases catch the eye. Bedrooms are all different, and wonderfully spoiling – one comes with a bright patterned canopy, another a four-poster and windows that point to the sunset. The deep elegance all around does not preclude a sense of warmth: guests to and fro with children and dogs in tow, all met as friends by the delightful Mireille. Many stay for the food, with a generous breakfast each morning and seasonal delights at night (a draw for the locals). You can dine outside, surrounded by the fragrant bouquet of wisteria, pink roses and oleander with a view across the lavender fields. There are bikes to hire, vineyards to visit, markets, galleries and a spa on site – in short, a Provençal paradise.
