The Experience

Down a long drive at the end of a country lane lies this handsome building. The home of friendly Guido and Ann, their young son and three dogs, it’s peacefully set in 17 acres of gardens and woodland, and has superb views of Mont Ventoux. Oozing style and elegance, from shabby chic to pop art, expect parquet floors, a stone fireplace, light spacious bedrooms, a Jacuzzi bath and smart bathrooms. Lavish breakfasts are served in the garden; fresh produce abounds. Wander the grounds, take a dip in the pool, hike the mountains, visit Orange and Avignon, or sample the local wines. It’s just a ten-minute drive to shops and restaurants.

Beautiful chateaux, can't recommend highly enough. The hosts also cooked a dinner one evening for everyone staying (chargeable) which was a wonderful experience and great quality food/value with pretty much free flowing wine! Ample parking and great facilities to prepare your own food if you so wish. There's an honour bar by the pool (which is immaculately kept) so you can help yourself to beer/wine/soft drinks which is a nice touch. The chateau is in a small village so it's extremely peaceful and relaxing. I'd happily go back for a return visit- and bring more wonderful wine back!

This is a wonderful place to stay. A grand little castle that has been thoughtfully restored and maintained. Well furnished with some lovely antique pieces, interesting, tidy and clean. Very warm and welcoming owners that are attentive and happy to go the extra mile to make for a great stay. The rooms and grounds are stunning and the pool warm and beautiful. Good food and great company. Excellent all round.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Ann de Mets

  • The castle was built in 1850 on the fondations of a medieval castel. The castle was given to Général Eydoux by Napoleon II or III.
  • We are AT 5km from Carpentras, and barely 20 km from Avignon.Loriol Du Comtat lies at the foot of Mont Ventoux overlooking the slopes of Les Dentelles de Montmirail. From the village there are various routes that are well marked and suitable for families.
  • Village life. It's a great pleasure to walk around this small but lively village. There is a café,a library, pizzeria, bakery and school.
  • Vaison-la-Romaine is not far from Chateau Eydoux. The city Orange is also nearby. Every year in its arena, the city organises Roman- inspired spectacles which are for fans of popular history surely not to be missed.
  • Fontaine de Vaucluse is also an important destination because of the source of the sorgue. The small rivers that are further along the Sorgue provide a lyrical landscape that inspired poets and writers .There are many restaurants and souvenir shops.
  • In the direction of Mont Ventoux, Bedoin with its marked on Monday and Caromb are nice villages to explore. Further south, mainly the antique market on Sunday in Isle-sur-la Sorgue and the Abbey of Senanque are not to be missed.
