In a clearing among lavender fields and truffle oak woods is a cluster of five cottages, all quite secluded and private from each other. Your two-storey stone building was once a shepherd’s rest and has views to Mount Ventoux.
A local lady, Joelle, greets you and leaves flowers and wine. You may not want to stray far – there’s a cosy fireplace in the cottage, plus books and games, and a boules court and shared swimming pool. Fire up the barbecue on your private terrace and marvel at the sunset; pick your own veg and herbs from the shared garden.
You can walk or cycle on nearby trails or go cliff climbing nearby or hop in the car to explore the Luberon. There are plenty of good places to eat – the nearest in the medieval town of Saignon, a five-minute drive away; the closest big food shops are in Apt, a ten-minute drive away.
