The Experience

With lovely Luberon views over vineyards and distant hills, this sturdy farm centres on a courtyard and its quenching old trough and pump. Thea and Eric came south for warmth and their Provencal project celebrates their care and flair. Thea cooks up a local feast once a week and lays on fine outdoor breakfasts too. Antique dealer Eric’s finds add intrigue to calm, clean-lined rooms: white linen and beams, bursts of vibrant fabrics, good new bathrooms. There’s a shared pool to plunge in and lounge by, a bar/games/sitting room to retreat to, handy access to kitchens and such a rich area to visit; visual and cultural treats all around.

Accommodation

Reviews

Fantastic place to stay. Thea and Eric are delightful hosts and very helpful in suggesting places to visit. Pool is a real treat with amazing view. Highly recommend.

Greg and Ali, Sheffield

A truly lovely rural location, very comfortable and well-kept accommodation. Thea and Eric provide a warm welcome, knowledgeable local guidance and outstanding breakfasts in the sunny courtyard. Local restaurants are very good, and all of the Luberon area within easy reach. Thoroughly recommended - we hope to return.

Bill, Gosport

Staying at Le Domaine Saint Jean was a joy. Thea and Eric were impeccable hosts, the setting, accommodation and food are all lovely. We felt welcome and looked after. We would definitely go back. Big thumbs up.

Sally, Ipswich

Very charming place with very friendly and helpfull guests , marvellous breakfast in the court with homemade jams and cakes! Centrally located in the heart of Luberon.

Eric and Thea are welcoming, attentive and interesting hosts. A delicious breakfast which includes several of Thea's homemade jams is served next to the swimming pool with stunning views over rolling hills. The bedrooms are spacious, traditional Provençal with good new bathrooms. Just perfect!

Local points of interest from Thea Hemery

  • Blue skies and vivid ochre colours, we are a short bike ride from the ‘Colorado Provençal’ with an exciting nature walk or the pretty Roussillon village with its spectacular red cliffs.
  • The huge Apt market, at just 3kms, is a must on Saturday morning, the smaller farmer’s market on Tuesdays is our favourite.
  • We can share the more secret Luberon with you: the Oppedette canyon, the secret rose garden, Banon’s incredible bookshop (better known for its oak leaf wrapped goat’s cheeses) and loads more..
  • Nearby Isle sur la Sorgue is the Mecca for antique and C20th unique designer pieces, Eric’s shop can be a good base for hunting or the really keen can get up at dawn and go exploring with him.
  • Pineapple heritage tomatoes, soft goat’s cheeses, hilltop grazed lamb, melon gazpacho, Apt candied fruits are just a few delicacies you’ll find on Thea’s table – candlelit dinners by the pool with all the guests or tapas for 2 in a quiet corner.
