The Experience

For those who prefer to do their sightseeing then come away to somewhere quieter, this will hit the spot. Themed bedrooms (all on the second floor) are individual, but all have garden views, very smart Point de Hongrie parquet flooring and are filled with light from Mansard windows. Two have interconnecting doors which can be unlocked to create a two-bedroom suite and all have en suite bathrooms with spoiling Nuxe products.

Wake to breakfast in the dining room or on the patio: eggs, charcuterie, cheeses and fresh fruit compotes are organic and the pastries and bread are from the boulangerie. Take a book to the salon afterwards or wander the pretty garden which you’re welcome to use. Friendly owners Catherine and Jacques give you a welcome drink when you arrive and there’s a mini-bar in your bedroom.

The suburb has plenty of restaurants and you can walk down to the Seine where Van Gogh spent many hours painting.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're on a quiet one-way residential street. Pavilions were built on the Asnières side of the Seine during the Exposition Universelle in the 1900s. Two are still there and are wonderful museums only Parisians know about. You're not far from the extremely chic 17th arrondissement just to the north of the Seine. It's a four-minute walk to the local railway station then just nine minutes to Saint Lazare.

Introducing

Catherine Marmion & Jacques Simonnot

Catherine, a journalist who writes for local magazines about French lifestyle and culture, and husband Jacques are both Parisians so can give you excellent advice on where to go and what to see. They are genteel, intelligent hosts and enjoy running the B&B.
