Stay in the perfectly named Mini, 20 square metres of sweetness and light. This bed-sitting room, with a separate galley kitchen and an all-white bathroom to the side, is on the ground floor of a typical, traditional Montmartre block, down a hidden alley away from tourist throng. Owner Francois, arts editor on a national newspaper, also lives on the ground floor – you could not meet a nicer host. Step inside to find fresh white walls and sweeping white curtains, a gleaming wooden floor, a pretty antique armoire, and a tiny outdoor space on the verdant-courtyard side, a nice summer spot for a glass of chilled wine. It’s a lovely friendly bolthole for two and a child. Toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge – the basics are yours, and so are magazines, CDs (a great collection) and flat-screen TV, a fan for warm nights and attractive toiletries by the bath. The Sacre-Coeur is up the hill, the Louvre and the Opera are a bus ride away, and the Paris of Lautrec, Renoir and the Moulin Rouge awaits your discovery.
My daughter and I stayed in this warm, quiet apartment and it was everything we wanted. Clean, comfortable bed, good sized bathroom and tons of hot water. A colourful area with good accessibility to Montmartre and the other major attractions. We will return and recommend!
