The
Experience

An amazing avenue of plane trees delivers you to an authentic ‘time warp’ château experience – and private access directly onto the second hole: bring the golf clubs! Madame, a classical historian, is a joy, and her house as colourful as she. Find polished family heirlooms, original wallpapers, a billiard room you can use. Up the grand stairs is a bedroom with books and fresh flowers, and a bathroom with a claw foot bath and trompe-l’œil walls. Breakfasts are in the orangery or by the fire: classical music plays, the candle is lit, the coffee is hot, the oranges and the squeezer are to hand and the homemade jam is delicious.

Reviews

We were enchanted by our visit to Château de Marmont. We broke a very long car journey from London to Nice here, hoping for something to brighten a long couple of days in the car. It was a very special start to our break. The approach is fantastic and the house itself is a delight; evocative, charming and elegant without being fussy. Madame Guidot was warm, welcoming and lovely with the boys (8 and 3), producing badminton rackets, a football and a takeaway pizza menu. We all slept well in our wonderful rooms and breakfast was fresh and delicious, served in relaxed fashion in a beautiful room.

On our last visit to France this month we stayed for a couple of nights at Chateau de Marmont. We just loved it - and the hostess. We were greeted with tea from English bone china cups and interesting conversation whilst sitting by the fire, before being shown our room which was comfortable and full of character. The bath was deep with endless hot water which after a day in the car was just bliss. Before going out to the second well recommended restaurant we shared a very good bottle of wine with other guests. The candlelit breakfasts which we ate in the conservatory were fresh and delicious - with lots of home made jams, freshly squeezed juice and accompanied by piano music in the background. We will definitely return. Hope are guests here enjoy their stay here as much as we did whilst staying with Genevieve.
