The
Experience

Kind and enthusiastic Parisians, Caroline and Jean-Robert, have done a grand job restoring this characterful 15th-century farm. The timbered stone and brick walls of the farmhouse peep out from a terracotta-tiled roof topped by a rare minaret-shaped Saracen chimney. Two comfortable beamed bedrooms, each with their own stylish modern bathroom, are prettily furnished with brocante bits and bobs. Breakfast in the stately hall or outside where tumbling rose bushes surround the fish-filled pond. There’s a gentle Yorkie in residence and it’s very dog friendly here. Foodies will head for gastronomic bliss in La Bresse.

What a lovely spot! We spent 2 nights here with Caroline and Jean-Robert. We left feeling like we had new friends. The setting is serene and peaceful; overflowing with blossoms. The accommodations were perfect with lovely linens, gorgeous bathroom and peaceful sleeping. We enjoyed dinner 2 nights with lots of good conversation. Our hosts were fun, gracious and interesting to spend an evening with. We hope to return when we can!

An all round pleasure - wonderful hosts, fabulous food & wine for our evening meal, an eclectic central open fired sitting room, with modern beautifully fitted bedroom and en suite bathroom. Caroline & Husband are charming, welcoming, friendly, amusing and justly proud of their characterful period home!

We had messed up our hotel booking and we called and spoke to Christine and arrived 40 minutes later. What a magical place. The hosts are so welcoming and interesting. The room was so comfortable and stylish. The garden was full of different places to sit and relax. We ended up staying 2 nights we loved it so much. Christine booked us dinner each night at local restaurants which were fabulous quality. We did not want to leave and will be back for sure. Huge recommendation from us and from our little doggie too.

Caroline & husband were very helpful & hospitable. They provided us with an excellent evening meal & a hearty breakfast. Our bedroom & the Ferme were the results of all their own work with great attention to detail.

We stayed here on our way home from a family holiday in the south of France. I booked via email and Caroline could not have been more helpful in making arrangements before we arrived. We chose to eat at Ferme de Perignat and what a lovely meal Caroline and Jean-Robert prepared - why get in a car and drive again if staying for just one night when you can eat like this. They are both extremely friendly and hugely welcoming hosts. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable and bathrooms clean and modern. I can highly recommend a stay here; peaceful, quiet and very relaxing.

The combination of the charm and hospitality of our hosts, the perfect dinner with excellent wine list, and the fascinating building is unbeatable. Our hosts joined us for aperitif and dessert, leaving us to dine alone. Jean-Robert is planning to take guests on wine tasting tours in season, with him doing the driving! He knows a number of small Burgundy producers of very good, but reasonably priced, wines. This little visited corner of France, an easy drive to Calais, is a perfect stopping-off point on the road south, with plenty of interesting places to visit nearby if you wish to linger.

"We stayed overnight on the way South with two small children. Owners were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble, Gorgeous setting and lovely accommodation. Fabulous dinner cooked by the owner - great hosts! We'll be back!"

I stayed here with my wife, 2 year old, 2 month old and dog for 2 nights and had a lovely time. Caroline and her husband looked after us extremely well with their incredible and unique house with amazing history and architecture. The rooms were superb, as were the bathrooms and it all had plenty of space, both inside and out, with fantastic walks. In the evenings we had delicious canapes and champagne before a lovely 3 course dinner with bottle of wine. The food was all from local farmers or their garden and the wines were from local producers. The whole experience was excellent.

Our favourite was breakfast in the yard, the atmosphere is so peaceful, one is surrounded by old farm buildings covered in roses, flowers everywhere. Excellent breakfast, and dinner, too, was great. Caroline cooked delicous vegetarian for me. Caroline and Jean-Robert were wonderful hosts, always helpful and considerate. The room has a modern bathroom. A great, very unusual and personal stay.

Found this delightful B&B almost by chance on the internet but were not at all surprised to learn during our stay that they had recently been accepted by Sawdays. Stunning outside visually, with loads of character. Fabulous bathroom! Charming couple who were very welcoming and keen to sit down for a chat over aperitifs before serving us an excellent meal (with well-chosen wines). Very much hope to visit them again for longer.

Caroline and Robert made our start into vacation a perfect one. What a lovely place to stay, what a delicious dinner, what charming and care-taking hosts! Looking forward to our next stay at Ferme de Perignat!

Gunther, Frankfurt

Caroline and Jean-Robert are charming hosts and the Ferme de Perignat has been amazingly renovated to provide all modern comforts while still retaining so many of its original features. Caroline is a fantastic cook and her attention to detail is amazing. The two bedrooms are beautifully decorated, the mattress and bed linen are of the highest quality, providing a blissful nights sleep, beautiful ensuites, modern with lashings of hot water. The gardens are full of interesting plants plus an amazing fish pond. The ferme de Pergnat provides an overnight stop of character and charm.
