Perched on the mountainside above the lovely old resort of Samoëns, is this luxurious, new-build pine chalet; one of four settled quietly down a private lane. Majestic Giffre Valley views stretch from the terraces and balcony, and a great big cedar hot tub is the perfect place to unwind and soak away the day’s strain. Bathrooms are outstanding; glossy bedspreads and scatter cushions finish pristine bedrooms from which you can wander straight out and perhaps catch the sun setting behind the mountain. In the open-plan sitting/dining room, plush leather sofas sit in the glow of a real fire. Breakfast is just as relaxed – simply let friendly and attentive Vicky and Rob know when you’d like it. They are passionate about food and really care about the quality and variety of their dishes. Samoëns is in the massive Grand Massif ski area and there’s scope too for cross-country skiing and snowshoe trekking; of course guides can be arranged, as can transfers and spa treatments. Only an hour from Geneva and very family-friendly.
