The Experience

Come for the best of everything: snowfalls in winter, cow pastures in summer, and beautiful food all year round.

Caz and Dave share a passion for cooking – and the outdoors. A shuttle bus takes guests to the pistes of Vallandry, and the world famous ski domaine of Les Arcs and La Plagne. This recently renovated chalet, ringed by beautiful larch trees, is remote, with wildlife in the forests and cross-country trails outside the door (the Centre Nordique is 30m). Get cosy in the restaurant; fall in love with Caz’s food. Sit out under the awning with a perfect cup of coffee – or a glass of Dave’s hoppy home brew. Breakfast too is a treat.

When the snow melts, it’s hiker-biker heaven. Set off for Lac de la Plagne: it takes five hours. Return to bedrooms tucked under the eaves, with big comfy beds, uber-chic showers, and plenty of chunky beams.

This is an absolute gem in the heart of the Nancroix National Park. Beautifully appointed rooms with great en-suite spaces. We were here to ski and booked two separate weeks. The host delivered us to the slopes when we did not catch the early bus. The restaurant food is amongst the best we've tasted in the Alps and is beautifully presented and well balanced. The owner has a great little micro- brewery and produces tasty beer!! Don't think twice and book it before someone else does. The owners and staff are lovely and very accommodating. The stars and quiet at night are amazing.

Len and Geraldine, Leamington Spa

A wonderful hidden gem in the heart of the Vanoise National Park. Le Petit Hibou gave us the best of both worlds. Not only were we provided with luxurious and beautiful accommodation; the room was immaculately decorated, with warm, inviting lighting and honestly one of the best bathrooms I've ever used in my life, but also food that you would most likely only ever encounter if you dined at a Michelin Star restaurant! Caz's evening meals and Dave's Breakfasts are an exciting adventure to look forward to each day. I cannot reccomend Le Hibou enough, you will NOT be disappointed!! :)

Steve, Cardiff

A wonderful spot for a holiday in the mountains, with no need to use the car one you have arrived. Venturing out for the day to explore the surroundings on skis or snow-shoes, wild-flower photography (depending on the season) and returning to dine on Caz's amazing food and sip Dave's home-brewed beer would be heaven!

The neighbourhood

The hamlet is a short drive from the resorts of Plan Peisey and Vallandry, which offer downhill and off-piste skiing. Cross-country skiing starts 30m from your door. Tennis, swimming and fly-fishing are also very close, and cyclists are spoilt with legendary descents and climbs. For views and wildlife, hike the route Croix Bozon...spot marmots, ibex, chamois, and Bearded Vultures.

Local points of interest from Caz & Dave Clapham

  • Surrounded by cross country ski trails, towering peaks and forest, we are encompassed in nature - yet less than a 10 minute drive gives you direct access to 420kms of world class skiing in the centre of the Paradiski region (Les Arcs and La Plagne).
  • 100 metres from our door is the old mining college of France (c.1820). Go explore the old foundry and workings in the forest.
  • White transforms to Green as summer approaches. Look out for the wildlife emerging, from sleepy marmottes, ibex and chamois, to our favourite neighbours; the rare bearded vultures and wolves.
  • Take a hike up the the Chapelles des Vernettes for stunning views and lavish Baroque decor.
  • The 2 hour hike to Lac de La Plagne in the summer is a must do if you have the energy !
  • A Via Ferrata (protected climbing route) can be found 1km from the chalet offering a real adrenaline rush. Kit can be rented from the local sport shop and a guide can be arranged if necessary. Sport climbing routes and bouldering can be found very close by
