Lut, a music teacher from Belgium (who speaks English) is one of those lovely gentle people who takes you happily into her home. It’s a gorgeous old house at the end of a pretty tree-lined drive with perfect, peaceful bedrooms (one in taupes, off-whites, toile de Jouy and a tiny room off with a bed for a child, the other modern red, white, rattan and wood). Breakfast is a treat: homemade yogurt and jams, bread and pastries from the local boulangerie; dinner too is available sometimes so do ask. You have sole use of the living room; the garden bursts with peonies, lupins, roses and cherries. An adorable, very special place.
