The Experience

Micaela was in the hotel trade, Sue worked at a Sussex winery, now they run an idyllic B&B on a former Saumur wine estate. The tours of their cellars and of the region are unmissable. The house dates from 1706, the potager is organic, and the outbuildings create a delicious hollyhock’d garden off which two rustic-chic bedrooms lie. The two in the house are equally lovely, one with an extra bed on the mezzanine: tuffeau walls, deep mattresses, soft beautiful colours. Start the day with a convivial breakfast (fresh figs, eggs from their hens), end it with a twice-weekly wine-tasting dinner at the big table.

Saumur Champigny

On a Wine Adventure tour, you will get the chance to try one of the Loire’s most cherished reds. Grown on limestone hills above Saumur, it is a generous fruity wine that is served slightly chilled in almost every Parisian bistro. The wines from the best years will mature for decades – all available from their cellars.

Absolutely stunning ! Sue and Micaela are wonderful hosts and we learnt so much on our wine tour. The location is magical amidst the local vineyards. Breakfast and our wine tasting evening meal was tastier than any of the local restaurants we sampled . Quite simply , we will be back next year!

Beverley, East Preston

This is a wonderful establishment in a beautiful rural setting within 10 mins of Montreuil-Bellay. The buildings are fascinating in their noble history, and rooms are unique in character. The ground floor room adjacent to the dining / lounge area sleeps four, had an excellent bed, charming rustic décor and an unusual mezzanine (en suite arrangements require some intimacy). Micaela & Sue are lovely hosts, full of enthusiasm and a huge knowledge of the area. We had the home-cooked meal with wine, which was simple and tasty, slightly expensive, but used organic ingredients and no palm oil!

Nick, St. Albans

Stunning house.our bedroom was amazing, super comfortable bed with divinely scented top class bedding.the bathroom is quirky with our shower shaped like a barrel.the wine tasting supper was delicious as was the breakfast next morning.the hosts were very not hesitate, book a stay here. We only wish we could have stayed longer in the relaxing surroundings

Marie, Chester

A wonderfully relaxing location set amongst the vines. A warm welcome with knowledgable advice on places to eat and see. We would love to visit again.

Our stay was a complete delight. Beautiful, eclectically, decorated accommodation, wonderful hosts, stunning surroundings. Great to have helpful pointers as to the best things to see from our hosts. We couldn't have asked for anything more! HIghly recommended.
