The
Experience

Romantics will be very happy: your own entrance to a private and pretty stable conversion with roses around the door and the sun streaming in from the courtyard garden. Downstairs is a small, open-plan living/dining room with a fully equipped corner kitchen, a scrubbed pine table with flowers in a jug, quirky beams, comfy sofas, neutral colours and a wood-burner for chillier evenings. Upstairs find a cosy bedroom with a large iron bed, seagrass rugs, white lace sheets and pastoral views from the window – and double doors to a marble wash basin and amazing roll-top copper bath from which you can watch the forest. (Worth coming for the bathroom alone, with its delicious white bathrobes and luxuriously deep bath.) Tina and her husband live in the 18th-century mill (the grounds are yours for wandering) and can give you breakfast and dinner – a treat for foodies; they also leave you wine, homemade jams, bread and cheese. Tucked away yet only three kilometres from Noyant, there are bicycles to borrow, an antiques market in Saumur, walks from the door and a wealth of châteaux to visit. Fantastique!

Reviews

We had a most enjoyable stay in this delightful and surprising little gite. Most comfortable with modern touches and we specially loved the copper bath! The gite’s garden always seemed full of sunshine and walking round the mill garden was great. Tina’s food was amazing and they were both very helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely gite, which is well-appointed and had everything we needed for our stay. The copper bath was a particular delight! The grounds are lovely for roaming around and we enjoyed meeting the resident donkeys, cats and goat. Steve was very welcoming and helpful.

Lovely comfortable and clean gite. Very well equipped for cooking. We went to a different market each day and cooked each evening. Lit the log burner which was nice. Wonderful bath and lovely bed. Really enjoyed the week.

Martine, Kent

Steve and Tina are lovely hosts who made us very welcome and who gave us privacy during our stay and help when needed. The cottage is a charming well maintained property with a very comfortable bed and furniture. The welcome pack was appreciated and the dinner for four was very excellent. The grounds with donkeys and goat and the walks in the forest were very enjoyable. Its position set back from the river gives you lovely drives to the Loire along its length from west to east.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Stephen Smith

  • Nestled in the grounds of our watermill and surrounded by woodland we are in easy reach of the myriad of stunning châteaux of the Loire valley a world heritage site
  • We had the pleasure of hosting a group of metal detectorists at the B+B and have discovered the house probably dates to the 15th cent with possibly!! a much earlier settlment
  • The castle which was the venue for the marriage of Edward and Mrs simpson (Cande) is less than an hour away. A hidden Gem and so poorly promoted !
  • The whole area is full of beautiful little villages. We have found many by going to the 'Vide Greniers, ( car boot sales) held each Sunday.
  • Glorious Markets abound with one being held somewhere on every day of the week.
  • And of course the Lemans 24hr or a different horse power the Cadre Noir......Enjoy!!
