The
Experience

Marguerite welcomes with tea and cakes; within minutes, you’re part of her family. Large bedrooms in the converted barn of her 19th-century farmhouse are furnished with antiques from her grandfather’s chateau; elegant armoires, beds and tables. Colourful quilts cover the beds, bright rugs are laid on tiled or parquet floors, original paintings hang on the walls. Windows look to woods – beckoning for walks – or the walled garden. Breakfasts – dinners, too – are served in a beautiful, spacious barn on sunny days (with kitchen for rustling up lunches); in the farmhouse kitchen on cooler days. Wonderfully, traditionally French.

Reviews

Warm, friendly, family atmosphere. Marguerite very helpful in advising us where to visit. No restaurant in walking distance? But had one of the best meals of our life in a restaurant in Leval recommended by Marguerite and also a very tasty meal cooked by her. In the two nights we spent here we found it lived up to everything your book said we could expect; Genuine personal welcome, a willingness to go the extra mile. A degree of informality and a fascinating glimpse into the French family way of life.
