The
Experience

Outside, a virginia creeper has the façade in its clutches – to pretty effect! Inside, wine and conversation flow. Mme David is friendly and welcoming and adores her house, family and guests. There’s a laid-back feel, a cluttered elegance, a faded decor; the atmosphere is that of a happy household. A suspended spiral staircase leads to the upper floors and the best suite is right at the top, its roof timbers exposed. Families will feel at home. Breakfasts are robust and table d’hôtes is classic French, with much produce from the garden. Be sure you try the family wines!

Reviews

This was one of our best Sawdays' experiences - of which there been many. The chateau had a patina of faded elegance, yet had every facility a "modern" traveller might need. Rooms elegant, comfortable and thoughtfully furnished in "period" style. However, the overwhelming factor is Mme. David. Welcoming - and a wonderful cook. We had dinner in a communal dining room with all the other guests. Wine and conversation ran fluently. The food was a wide selection of French cuisine and utilised fresh ingredients from the Chateau garden. No tight-lipped grimacing amongst guests from adjoining tables!

A great find. A superb building, room and most hospitable hoste. We took the evening meal which we took outside; it was informal yet delicious. The children were made very welcome and they had great fun in the pool.

Fantastic stay with a warm welcome, amazing room, lovely meal for my daughter and an absolutely incredible 3-course meal for adults in the evening. All the children played together and we had a lovely restful night's sleep. Marie is welcoming and lovely. In fact, we wanted to stay again on our way back a week later and she made it work for us! I would wholeheartedly recommend this place- one of the best stays of our holiday and we're pleased we found it.
