The pretty village is known for its exquisite abbey and some of that monastic serenity pervades these rooms. We love the family room under the rafters: massive oak door, cool tiled floor, a touch of toile, a simple mix of furniture. Through the family kitchen, breakfast is at a long polished table in the old stable: linger over cake and compote; the old laundry, its huge stone tub intact, is now a sitting room. Guests can picnic in the many-flowered walled garden, overlooked by the abbey and a glorious cedar tree. Energetic Christine is as charming as her house, which is also home to her husband and twin girls.
