The
Experience
Imagine lying in a mahogany sleigh bed watching dolphins play in the bay (if you’re lucky), then walking through a magical garden to a private cove for a swim. Youthful, vibrant, Dolphin Beach is no ordinary place. Extended and modernised, the 200-year-old farmhouse lies at the windswept edge of Europe among wild fuchsia and the light of the Atlantic. Big bedrooms are full of luxurious fun and eccentric detail: Billy’s fabulous handmade headboards, mosaic tiles, wooden ceilings, portholes, warm floors and patio doors that open with smooth precision onto quiet courtyards full of colourful pots or staggering views. The whole family are involved here and they will organise just about any activity you want – riding, deep-sea fishing, hikes, bikes. Barbara cooks with inspiration and fresh produce from the farm and the local area – Connemara lamb, organic veg grown in her neat-as-a-pin plot, wild salmon, fresh lobster. Savour it in the raised dining room overlooking Clifden Bay. After dinner, visit the bustling town by taxi, or lounge in your choice of two sitting rooms. Finally, let the sea lull you to sleep.

We stayed in their Dolphin Beach Lodge just below the B&B in June and it was absolutely perfect! The location right on the water is magnificent and the house itself - which is huge- is wonderful. Every room in the house has a water view and the layout is amazing with one super king bedroom at one end with the kitchen, dining and family room in the middle and the other two bedrooms (all en suite and a second super king and one queen) at the other end. A perfect location & a perfect vacarion! We were at the B&B often and the owner, Clodagh, is nothing short of fabulous. Guests seemed so hapoy!

We liked Dolphin Beach a lot. It is ideally placed for visiting places in Connemara and the rest of Galway, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfasts are excellent. We also had dinner one night and found that very good too.

Very friendly welcome. Stunning views from the breakfast room with delicious breakfasts to set you up for the day. The Sky View road (on which the hotel is situated) is great for early morning walks prior to breakfast or cycling (latter arranged through local shops in Clifden Mannion Bike hire recommended). Our room on ground floor (peacock room) had great views of sea from our bed. Our favourite Sawdays on our recent trip to Ireland.
