The Experience

Discover the mysterious and ancient beauty of the Boyne Valley – you have miles and miles of sandy coastline to explore. Once through the ‘village gate’ you are secluded in beautiful flower gardens, and you can walk along the spreading beach to pubs and restaurants. Roger and Liz’s family has been letting these cottages since 1908 and their warm Irish welcome, with hot scones from the oven and homemade jam, proves they have inherited the hospitality gene. The cottages have been lovingly and impeccably refurbished, making them warmly state-of-the-art with their quilted bedcovers on excellent beds, sparkling bathrooms with underfloor heating, double ended baths and power showers, robes and slippers too. WiFi, flatscreen TVs, CD and DVD players, games and books, local art and pottery, comfy sofas and fully-fitted kitchens, everything is just so. Children will adore it here – there’s heaps to keep them entertained. Just 25 minutes from Dublin Airport but the best antidote to city madness (and voted one of the coolest cottages in Britain and Ireland by the Sunday Times!), you will surely be content.

Wow! This is a hidden gem! Little piece of heaven. We felt relaxed and at home as soon as we walked in the gate!

We had such a wonderful time. The beach was gorgeous, Poppy was a delight and the gardens are wondrous. I really look forward to our next visit hopefully for a longer stretch and we can really dive into the areas history and attractions.

We stayed in the Apple Loft and then moved to the Garden Cottage because the Apple loft was booked out. Liz and Mel are absolutely amazing. Being here was like being transported to a magical place, Hobbit land comes to mind. I have recommended here to all my friends and will definitely come back.

The Cottages are a rare gem! We felt right at home the minute we arrived! The hospitality, the attention to details, the level of personal touch in every corner of the property was exceptional. We use to dream of finding a place away from the busy life of the city, where we could have some peace and quiet while being close to nature and this place made our dream come true. It’s exceeded our expectations in every way possible. A big thank you to the team and to Liz and Roger for their vision and their gorgeous dog Puppy! A must visit place and location.

Tala, Jordan

It was a pleasure meeting you both and thank you for such a warm welcome, I know we didn’t come too far but your beautiful surroundings made us feel like we were a million miles away. Recommendations all round and we will definitely be back.

We had a lovely autumn break at The Cottages. What a wonderful location for the half-term school holiday. A total unwind and relax for all the family. We've visited the Cottages several times before at different times of the year, it's a little piece of heaven to escape to all year round. There's plenty of things to do in the area, but walks and fun on the beach, mixed with time at the Cottage and gardens give real downtime from the normal humdrum. We couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Mark, Manchester, UK

The Cottages are lovely and comfortable, with all amenities imaginable and within a safe and secure complex of other cottages. The rooms are sparkling clean and the beds/pillows super comfy. We stayed for 5 nights, during which time the staff and owners made sure to attend to our every question and needs. Make sure you take time for a long walk on the beach just metres away. The drive into Dublin is only about 40 minutes and the Wicklow Mountains are about 90 minutes away.

“The Kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, one is nearer god’s heart in Liz and Roger’s Garden than anywhere else on earth.” Thank you so much for everything - the beauty, the peace, the kindness from all. You have created a little bit of heaven here. Thank you!

De and Ken, Virginia, USA

We truly loved our stay at The Cottages. As newly-weds, we had the opportunity to get away from the big city and enjoy the quaint atmosphere for our honeymoon! The staff were incredibly accommodating in helping us navigate public transport and places to go! We would definitely come again! Thanks for everything!

A truly beautiful place a little slice of heaven. Roger and Liz the owners are two of the most kind and lovely people.
