Carole and Kevin love people to revel in their wonderful, quirky house and are on hand if you need a steer on how to launch the kayaks down on the lake or whether the children might feed the ducks. You could spend a holiday without leaving the estate: have meals catered; throw a party with the sparkle of home-grown cider; read Ulysses in a hammock; have a sing-song around the piano… or simply sit and chat by the turf fire.
The village has a good food pub. Lough-side Terryglass and Scarriff more choice, and the rolling Lough Derg country has plenty of scope, for fishing and boating, riding and walking; take a hike up to Bohatch Dolmen – you can see five counties on a clear day.
In summer you can laze on the smooth lawns, find shade under mature trees, have a picnic in the apple orchard. There are local bog tours and you can forage for watercress and mushrooms.
