8 places

Sleeping from 2 – 6

A lovely, carefully renovated old alpine farm, with fine views of Mont Blanc and kind, eco-aware hosts. Biomass boilers and solar panels provide hot water and electricity, and if you opt for the breakfast spread – in the cosy former cowshed – everything’s local and/or organic. The friendly apartments, with balconies, great views and open-plan living areas, are split between the two floors of the main building and, across the lawn, is the separate villa – La Rozoou – with its garden veranda. Original stone, vaulted beams and terracotta floors frame antique agricultural tools, hardwood and recycled furniture, along with modern pieces, well-equipped kitchens and good shower rooms (La Gnolla has a beautiful wooden tub). The whole place is warmly inviting with its soft lighting, red and white fabrics and little hearts at the windows. The village setting is charmingly picturesque too, on the edge of La Salle and circled by mountains. In summer hike well-marked trails and visit the Valle d’Aosta castles; in winter ski the Courmayeur. The Pré-Saint-Didier spa is close by as are the highest vineyards in Europe.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Valerie Laurent

  • The peaceful village of Derby (La Salle) in the upper part of the Aosta Valley is surrounded by wonderful fields and woodlands, with sight over Mont Blanc. At sunrise, the birds are singing in the wet meadow dew and Mont Blanc is tinged with light.
  • Derby Village is perfect for walks in families with smaller and older, isolated from the traffic. Its strategic position allows to reach in a short time, in summer and in winter, the resorts of La Thuile and Courmayeur, and others touristic highlights.
  • Sky Way Mont Blanc cable car is "a massif show'. We recommend to not miss out on an excursion to the eighth wonder of the World. 365 days a year, on the roof of Europe, you can enjoy splendid panoramic views of the ice from the highest peak of Europe
  • Close by Le Petit Coeur, the Pré-Saint-Didier thermal baths is a unique treasure in the heart of Aosta Valley. A timeless place that adds a new meaning to the concept of the spa, well-being, and spiritual rebirth. Wrap yourself in the warm thermal water
  • The Gran Paradiso Park is a never-ending emotion by direct contact with alpine wilderness nature and animals
  • La Salle, full of easy paths, is a paradise for walkers. Thanks to a network of old rehabilitated mule track perfect for discovering our rural territory and our vineyards, The Aosta Valley Wine Trail, and its heroic wine growers.
