A lovely, carefully renovated old alpine farm, with fine views of Mont Blanc and kind, eco-aware hosts. If you opt for the breakfast spread – in the cosy former cowshed – everything’s local and/or organic; biomass boilers and solar panels provide hot water and electricity. The friendly apartments, with balconies, great views and open plan living areas, are split between the two floors of the main building and, across the lawn, is the separate villa – La Rozoou – with its garden veranda. Original stone, vaulted beams and terracotta floors frame antique agricultural tools, hardwood and recycled furniture, along with modern pieces, well-equipped kitchens and good shower rooms (La Gnolla has a beautiful wooden tub). The whole place is warmly inviting with its soft lighting, red and white fabrics and little hearts at the windows. The village setting is charmingly picturesque too, on the edge of La Salle and circled by mountains. In summer hike well-marked trails and visit the Aosta Valley castles; in winter ski the Mont Blanc Courmayeur. The Pré-Saint-Didier Spa is close by as are the highest vineyards in Europe.
