This ‘Happy House’ is in the charming village of Giungano, at a high altitude and with views down to the sea and Paestum. It oozes history and lovely owner Camilla’s family have owned it since the 1600s – the common rooms overspill with family portraits, antiques and a library filled with books and documents (just ask to visit). A huge open fire welcomes you in colder months, breakfasts are special and locally sourced, dinner is by arrangement – outside on the terrace or inside at an optional communal table. Bedrooms (cool even in summer months) are colourful and vary in size. The Noble floor rooms have views to the sea and their own private terrace; family rooms are in the mansard and are more modern in style, but all have views and their own bathrooms. The garden is enchanting with arches, internal courtyards, plenty of space, a swimming pool all in stone and restful places to sit. Walkers will be in heaven, with the Cilento National Park to amble (or yomp) through, the village is unchanged with little shops and restaurants, staff are friendly and helpful. You are well looked after here.
