The Experience
In warm weather you can have tea under orange trees in the quiet central courtyard, in winter by a roaring fire under the arch of an ancient artisan’s workshop. Each evening, this space transforms into a private bar where regional wines and finger foods are served – a great place to meet other guests and chat with utterly delightful owners, Paolo and Valentina.
Breakfast on fresh breads, pastries and cakes from the local bakery, take a book up to one of the comfy chairs on the sunroof, admire pretty stencils and street scenes by a local artist on the walls. You’re a block from the Piazza di Santa Maria with its ancient church. Bring walking shoes or borrow a bike: you can cross the bridge for Campo de’ Fiori, turn right for the Forum and Colosseum.
Trastevere is famous for its trattorias and outdoor places to eat; return to ground floor bedrooms and family suites set around the quiet courtyard

Accommodation
Location
The neighbourhood
You're just moments from the main piazza where locals and tourists hang around the fountain or in one of the outdoor cafes lining the square - take a seat and spend a few hours people watching. Trastevere is a maze of alleyways, mostly pedestrianised with small shops and plenty of trattorias. The owners recommend Trattoria da Augusto or the Ristorante La Scala.
Introducing
Paolo Vetere
Native Romans, Paolo and Valentina have been running this little hotel for 25 years and now have their son helping them. Paolo is an architect (and avid sailor) and they renovated the whole place themselves. They are the friendliest of people and often join their guests for an aperitivo in the evening.
An amazing oasis within the hustle & bustle of Rome - very close to the river & within walking distance of numerous bars, cafe's & restaurants - we loved our stay here. Our family of 5 was well looked after - we stayed in one of the attic rooms which have 2 bathrooms & lots of space. Would recommend to anyone who wants to be close to the night-life of Rome, but also prefers to be staying in town style location.
