The Experience

You may spot hares on the winding drive up but there’s plenty more to look forward to. Immediately, there are the views; rolling vineyards and hilltop towns. The ancient farmhouse has been strikingly converted to a modern country villa without losing authenticity. Nadia, (an architect, Slow Food champion and wine buff) and husband Alessandro have blended old with new with an eye for detail and comfort in their happy family home. White walls, vaulted brick ceilings, pale wood floors, lots of interesting books and simple furnishings ensure the house is light, gracious yet lived-in. The large dining room is a quirky mix of elegance and vintage; breakfasts a terrific spread of Piedmontese cheeses, honeys, salami and breads. Bedrooms are huge, light and restful with gauzy curtains, piles of cushions and vintage finds. Log fires, storm lanterns and massed candles add romance. Bathrooms are sleek and spacious. There are vineyards to visit, hills to walk, and Alba, Barolo and Barbaresco to explore. The cantinas of historic Neive are 10 minutes. Or sit on your patio, drinking in the views with a glass of Nadia’s thoughtful aperitivo.

Reviews

What a delightful little haven tucked within the vineyards with glorious vistas over the Piedmontese hills. This Cascina has been beautifully renovated and offers very generous and comfortable rooms with views into the garden. The hotel itself is well presented with a lovely spa and perfect pool which offers plenty of space to sit in the sun or in the shade. They serve a very delicious breakfast in an outdoor alfresco setting. It’s a great place to stay to enjoy what the Piedmont has to offer. Luca the Manager makes this place even better with his warm hospitality and professional service

We had a fabulous time here at the end of August. It's a wonderful location close to Alba and Barolo. The room-apartment was fantastic and our little dog was well catered for too. Such generous hosts with a wonderful breakfast and excellent pool and surroundings. Will definitely return.

What a lovely spot! Beautiful views, peaceful location and delightful hosts. Very comfortable and well presented rooms. We had a wonderful few days and will be back. Thank you to Nadia and Ale! Just a little comment - A little more hanging and storage space for clothes would make it perfect! But thank you all the same!

We've visited La Cascina with our one year old daughter. We've enjoyed the hospitality of the owners. The room was beautifully decorated and also practical. The breakfast with lots of local products was delicious. Also a swimming pool for our daughter was waiting for us :-). What a service! The house is surrounded by wine yards and hazelnut trees and offers a beautiful view. In the area you can visit beautiful small and bigger old villages like Neive, Alba, Barbaresco etc. Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet, nice, warm and peaceful place from which you can discover Piemonte.

Local points of interest from Nadia Minazzo

  • Our country house is located in Neive, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and part of a UNESCO world heritage site. Our property rests on 3 hectares, cultivating mainly vines, walnuts and hazelnuts.
  • The hills from which you can admire the beautiful scenery and landscape are justly praised as a positive element of a stay in the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero. You can also try typical produce from Piedmont (cheese, truffles, hazelnuts, wine, etc).
  • The farmstead, known as “Podere Palaretto”, according to the inscription on marble to be found on one of the facades, was bought in 1750 by the architect Carlo Emanuele Rocca and extended by his son, the architect Paolo Francesco Rocca.
  • For bike lovers, Langhe is the perfect location and La Cascina is the best starting point for different tours, from the most simple to the most challenging. The Relais is located near the route of "Strada Romantica delle Langhe e del Roero".
  • The charm of the Langhe and Roero area, leads to a kind of food and wine holiday experience married to sports activities (trekking, cycling routes, walks in the surrounding vineyards, etc) or relaxing in the vineyards (cooking classes, visits to wineries).
  • There are also many cultural attractions, and the area is full of historic architecture, old villages, castles amd towers of different periods (from the Middle Ages onwards).
