Turin: grandiose home to baroque architecture and art, irresistible cafés, divine chocolatiers, prestigious opera house… and capital of the aperitivo. Here, in a respectable residential street in the heart of the old town, is Roberta’s B&B. Take the lift of this very elegant building up to a wide landing on the fourth floor where Roberta will greet you, with her lovely big smile and infectious laugh. There’s an elegant oval dining table for breakfast, a cluster of shiny blue matching sofa and chairs, a little computer corner and a comforting, comfortable décor. The guest quarters are on the floor above, high under the eaves, reached by a wooden open-tread stair. Find three big, friendly, generous, traditional rooms, all polished antiques, gleaming floors, patterned rugs and easy chairs. The suite has its own little terrace, looking down to the courtyard below, and the bathrooms are excellent, with showers and baths, bottles of shampoo, coloured towels. Roberta is super-organised, loves the city and her B&B and knows all there is to know. You could not be in better hands.
