The Experience
In 1901 the Rossi brothers built a present for their mother: a grandiose masseria, an extension of their almond farm. Their descendants developed this into a successful biodynamic winery and olive farm – an exceptional place to stay. The architecture is unusual for this area, not simple and rustic but romantic and grand, with a zigzagging external staircase. The first floor holds two spectacular suites (museum-worthy antiques, floor-to-ceiling windows); the kitchen – with its original, gorgeous tiles – is used for cookery courses. The second floor contains ‘loft’ guest rooms, simpler with chunky beams, pale walls and polished furniture. In the summer you can stay in one of two characterful apartments, one on the ground floor with tall arched ceilings, the other, ideal for families, next to the tree-framed pool. Wine lovers will of course love it here, but there’s something for everyone: grounds for wildlife lovers and a restaurant for foodies – don’t miss the wine-based therapies! Salvatore has taken over the reins here, and you will be looked after very well; breakfasts are to die for.
